First time small scale grow

Hey guys, doing my first ever grow here and was just wondering if you could answer some questions i have.
Ok so i have grown to plants from seed and they have both turned out..... different ?
Check this out:

So that guy above has 3 prongs coming from one leaf and the 2 true leaves are dying already

This guy was born with 3 leaves !! he is looking healthy now tho !!

I think the soil is to hot ! How can i fix that. Its the same soil as the other one tho. You think the second one is male ?

flush the soil is the only way to lower its ppm depends on what nutes you use tho, it could release more nutes from the soil..

Did the soil you used have fertilizers already in it? I tried the miracle grow seedling mix and it germinated, sprouted and burnt to death all in the same week, so no more of that...lol

If it does, it is probably nute burn. I have mine in just peat, vermiculite and perlite and have fed no nutes( just distilled water every 2 days. Tomorrow is 3 weeks since germinating. had a couple of issues early on with a dripper setup, but I am no longer doing that for seedlings.

I will hit mine with 1/4 strength nutes sometime this week as I will have at least 3 good nodes of growth on each one.

compost is full of nutes. if you paid for that seed let it recover it looks like it will make it, gonna be behind the other plant by a week or 2 though. you might transplant it into something a little lighter oncw it is ready for a transplanting. that compost doesn't look like it is even done cooking

Here is a couple of pics of the survivors from my mix with miracle grow seedling mix. I have them temporarily placed in my veg cabinet to see if they will pull through. Thier growth has been slow compared to the plants that are younger and in the soiless mix. They were all in the process of burning up and I transplanted them a week or so ago.

The difference is obvious, seedlings don't take to kindly to nutes at all from what I can tell. This first pic is a pitiful little thing that is 3 weeks old and just now started to show signs of life, I do not have any expectations for this one, but I am going to give it a shot anyway( good learning experience) and see if I can get it to the point I can clone and sex it, who knows, maybe an ugly duckling story in there somewhere. The second pic is a couple of others that were salvaged as well. The third pic is seedlings that are in a soiless mix and are 2 weeks or so old today( from germination). No nutes and just distilled water. I am now a believer in the "softer" approach.

less is more and say it every time. Be carefull about too much water. pick it up full of water checking wieght and when light (very light) water the day after you think you need it. If those are 2 gals. Id say every 4-5 days water. They do look better.

Wow, looks like you are not one of the MG advocates after that, but so far, I can't complain.
This is my second grow, at 21 days, MG moisture control soil and MG Perlite.

I think we have answered the op's intitial question on why his seedling is not looking so good, I have 1 that looks exactly like it, so I showed it. I for one will have nothing to do with prefertilized products anymore as I can plainly see that soiless and distilled water has beaten it hands down, at least in my little world it has. The moral of the story is, don't feed the babies right off the bat. Let them get thier feet under them a bit and then start. It is obvious that his soil is pretty heavy with something the plants do not like and there inlies a bulk, if not all of the problem.
