First time growing need some tips/help

Well first off lemme say hi, I'm new to this forum my name is JJ.

Okay so anyways I wanna start growing marijuana. I'm gonnna start of with 2 different beginner strains known as Gigantes and Trojan. There a really popular dwarf strain/autoflowering seeds. I'm choosing them cause well there dwarfs and easy to grow. I'm probably gonna be using one of thoughs big ass plastic containers. Know I know it's autoflowering so that means you get to keep the same lighting cycle right? Now heres some of my major questions :

Q1. How long do I need to light the plants for? And what's a good light I should use for these specific strains.
Q2. How much should I water them each day?
I may have some more questions later.

Now as far as autos go, you can run them pretty much whatever light cycle you want but I would do 12/12.

You say water, so I assume a soil grow. What soil are you planning to use? What nutrients do you have available? Will this be organic?

For soil i'll be using Fox Farm Ocean Forest. and I really don't know a good nutrients to use that's another question I guess. And for watering I was wondering like how often I have to water my plants every day. And A noob ass question but what does 12/12 mean?

12/12 if the flowering photoperiod. 12 hours light/12 hours dark. And you don't need to water every day. Wait until it's 90% dry then water...usually every 3-5 days during the seedling stage. Welcome to RIU!

What about during the flowering stages and what types of lights should I use
 
Seems to me like you have a bit more research to do, my friend. If you're growing auto's then I don't believe it matters what your light schedule is. I have never grown auto's (never will) so I'm not 100% positive. Do some research on lighting. There's fluorescent, HID, LED, etc.

Sorry I misunderstood the post I meant to put how much water should I use during the flowering stages
 
See this is where you need to do a bit more studying. Like a lot more. Everyone here who has experience and knowledge to share has dedicated their lives and/or their free time to learning and perfecting. We love to help and share knowledge, but we all want to see a level of dedication from new growers before sharing our knowledge.

If you don't take it serious enough to research what you need, how can anyone take your grow serious?

Totally agree with dtowndabber, the best advice I can give you is read, read, and read some more. Every situation is different, the amout of watering a plant needs in Toronto is different than someone in Arizona. It can even change from having your case on the higher floor vs. the basement. Some basic tools can help, humidistat is great to have. so far, my best tool has been my finger, once the soil is dry when I stick my finger in, it's time to water. If you're flowering, you should water until you see water come out of the bottom.
 
Google is your friend.....just type in your question and you'll get answers....if you find the same answer more than a few times....it's probably the right one. If you keep getting 100 different answers, this means there's 100 different ways of doing something....and you have to pick the one that feels right to you.

Rollitup is probably the better of the grow blogs, and most people on here are both knowledgeable and happy to answer your question. I would suggest you google "How to grow pot" and many of your question will be answered.
 
Well said lilroach.

I spent a lot of time on Rollit up, google and you tube. Along the way you meet some great people, who are more than happy to help you out - as long as you're not looking for something to be handed on a silver platter. International Canagraphics is a good site too, Rollit up is my first go to.
 
Fox farm ocean forest is going to be too strong for your plants and may cause nute burn, so you may want to dilute it by adding in some base soil.
 
I like Fox Farm Ocean Forest as you can go quite awhile before introducing nutrients. My second favorite so far is Happy Frog....and I'll take this moment to say that Humbolt's soil sucks.
