First Time Growing Ever - I'm falling in Love with my plant(s) lol

As an old time smoker I had the urge to grow my own stash for once in my life. So here is my progress:

Please note that I do not have an idea what I'm doing, but I'm enjoying myself and learning as I go. I love weed... really I do...

The first photo is taken 18 March. Seeds was planted around 10 March. I kept seeds from the best weed I got. Bag-weed-seed, beggars can't be choosers.

Initially there were 4 seedlings in the pots. One died. First off, I used what I had around the house. One small florescent light and two 3000k cfl bed lights. I made myself a very cheap case with wood. For small plants this worked great.
First few days:

Foliage growing nicely. Looks like Indica & Sativa...

The next step was to top the plants, all went well!

My fan broke down during the night and some of the leaves got too hot. Will try my best to look better after them from now on. I also introduced Seaweed to the plants by spraying them and added Perlite.

I noticed that the pots were extremely heavy. As a dumb newbie, I used gravel from my garden and it got like clay. No drainage at all. I also decided after adding the perlite, to trim the plants from leaves stems that turned purple. And so I did... the plants was still okay the next morning. I thought this was going to stress the plants heavily, but all was okay.

Next, I decided to transplant to bigger pots. My budget however, well, I could only get one pot. Though the transplant went smooth with the first plant, it was a total nightmare. The gravel I used is not suitable for pot plants, it was so compacted and the roots was really wet, considering I gave water 3 days before the transplant. Anyway, I soldiered on.

You can clearly see the difference in pot size. Hopefully with the new potting soil and bigger pot thing will look better. All seem well now, but time will tell.

Next was the smaller one. I only bought one pot, but I knew I had to take all plants out now after seeing what that gravel did to the first one. And boy '0' boy, what a mess!!! Tip, always use the correct medium soil from the start!

Believe me, my hart was skipping beats doing this. That brown ground was so heavy!! That small pot weighed more that all the pots afterwards. Luckily I managed to do it right without breaking or tearing anything.

Next, I did it with all the plants I have.

I also tried making a clone or two from the stems and leaves I removed earlier. I did not succeed however. I will try with the next one though as I think the bigger plant has started to flower.

It's been two months now and I'm looking forward watching my girls grow.

Tonight (21.05.2016) I noticed the following, after all I've put them through they still offer their essence to me....

Things are looking up! Will keep posted in due time...

Hey Brood, it's ok to love your plants just not love your plants. Feelin' me?
Seriously though it's amazing how resilient these plants are. Even with humans thrown at them, they still manage to thrive.
