first time growing advice :)

howdy guys, this is my very first grow and i need some good advises.

i'm growing in australia and started about 5 weeks ago in the last month of summer, i'm disappointed i didn't start growing earlier but i didn't have any seeds then, so i thought i'd still give it a shot to see how it goes, nothing serious.

i planted two seeds around five weeks ago and am so far happy with my results. one of the plants grew alot faster and taller then the second one. i'm unsure on why this is? also the smaller plant is starting to lean to one side and nearly falling over, not sure if theres anything i can do to help this?

the bigger plant has started showing small white hair like strands on the top of the plant as shown in one of the photos, does this mean its a female and will produce buds? also the smaller plant seems to have had bits of its leaves eaten off? the only bugs i've seen around the plant are tiny white bugs that normally jump around the plant when i water it. could these have anything to do with it. the bigger plant hasn't had any bug bite that i can see but some of the bottom leaves have turned yellow and started dying, could this be due to too much watering?

thanks for any advice in advance :mrgreen: :peace:

you can stake your plants to keep them from falling over, do this with a stick of some sort and a twist tie, but leave the tie loose so it doesn't cut off growth. those white hairs are pistils and means she's begun to flower. you want to use nutrients that are high in phosphorus, but be careful not to over fertilize. it is best to fertilize a little more often, than a lot less often. i am not entirely sure about the bugs, anything that small wouldn't eat such big chunks. only water when the top 294 inches of soil is dry. as always watch your plant and keep a journal of what you do and how the plant is faring...this will help to determine when things go wrong what the factor was that caused it.

The big plant is definitely a lady and will produce buds granted you have enough time left in your grow season for them to finish.

Yellowing of the lower fans leaves can be caused by a few different things but this early on in the plants life I'd say overwatering is a possibility. You want to let the soil dry out before you water. Cannabis, along with many plants actually, doesn't like having its roots saturated 100% of the time. When you water, soak the soil well and pick the entire container up. Feel how heavy it is? Come back again in a few days and check again. It should feel much lighter. Once it feels like most of that water weight is gone you can water again. I can't imagine under any circumstance, with plants that small, with that much soil, that you would need to water more than every 3-5 days, so resist the urge. The plants will be much better off for it.

they look nice so far, get some bigger pots, alot bigger. and then replant them with some good soil.
