First time grower

I just bought a teen colne blue dream..and I put it in a five gallon bucket...I put a couple of hole on the bottom and side.but when I add water it pour thoroughly to the bottom and I can see the water in the bowl under the bucket.is that normal or did I put to many hole.and the top of the soil still fill dry.any advice I should would appreciate it

here is the best resource I can provide, get a grow bible, cervantes, rosenthal are good. reading one in a weekend will save you months of cash loss and troubles. from seed to sack every question is covered. yours is a basic one of watering a plant. though basic may depend on some factors like soil choice for instance, some are not so good for marijuanas. Soem run off is ok, but now do not water until that soil is dry, and this could be difficult for you with a seedling in such a large container, not so much with a clone/teen, but like I said, its all covered in the first chapters of any of these.
