First time grower. Long time dreamer. Looking for feedback and advice!

Hello!

I've posted here once before with some initial ideas for my indoor grow room. I decided to lite a fire under my ass instead of just roasting a bowl. So after a very successful trip to a local gardening shop I came home with a 50' roll of 10'x10' panda film, a 8 bulb 48" t5 light, and 10 very happy looking rooted clones. I'm going out to the hardware store to get wood, nails, staples, and adhesive to build the skeleton to my box and attach the film to it.

Here's what I have designed... a 5'x8' (7' tall) box separated into a 5'x5' for flowering and a 3'x5' for vegging, with side box to maintain mothers. I'll be running a t5 for vegging (hopefully moving up to a second light as money allows), starting on a 24/0 cycle and moving to 18/6 to prep plants to move into flower. I haven't purchased my hps yet, and I'm still up in the air about if I'd like to run 600w or 1000w...And will figure out cooling from which I choose to use

As an aside regarding the 600w to 1000w debate for my room, I think I'd like to run two 600's when I have a bit more to spend on supplies (I don't see the point in purchasing hardware that I don't have plants mature enough to use with). Unless anybody really thinks that one 1000 is better than two 600's, I figure that the two 600's will have better coverage, although they'll be more pricey than the one 1000.

As far as ventilation and temperature, I live in Oregon and plan on growing in a garage, so I plan on pulling air into the room and scrubbing through a can filter. For temperature, which I don't think should be terribly much of an issue until I start using HID bulbs in the flower room, I plan on pushing through the hoods (for less air leakage from the grow area and less heat onto the fan).

As far as soil and nutrients...I'm somewhat at a loss. My grow shop recommended a local organic soil, root organics by aurora, which seems to be a good all around soil. (While I like the idea of organic, I'm not 100% steadfast on it)...

And finally schedules and watering, I have a vague idea of what is recommended, but I figured that I would go by the individual presentation of the plants, especially since I'm starting with multiple strains.

Any questions/concerns/feedback/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers and Happy toking guys!

Those clones look offly nice, im not a pro but i think you could run your "mother" room on a 18/6, all the way through I dont think you need to be running it 24 hour. If your more of a beginner i suggest using a soiless mix and just adding nutrients with what they suggest and having your water at the right ph etc when watering

Im also on the same problem if i should be using 2 600w's or a 1000w on a 4x8 table :wall:( i have limited height of course)
