First time grow trying to do things right the first time =p

hey everyone =]
well this is my first grow and it seems to have started well but ive ran into something i wasnt sure about so i figured id start a grow journal and get some help on my questions  well to start i germinated 3 unknown seeds. all of them seemed mature. i planted the seeds in 1" rockwool cubes and sure enough 2 days later i had 2 of them sprout. the next day the 3rd came along. now for the question i got for you guys. my plants seem to be growing straight up, check out the pics for more detail on them, but i was wondering what might have caused that? could it just be that the seeds are from a tall growing plant? stay tuned for updates :eyesmoke:
thanks for checking out my post and to anyone that can help a newbie out lol

well, first off, you shouldnt have 2 plants in one cube, 2. do you have any actual lighting or are you trying to just use the sunlight from the window? why dont you have the rockwool in some sort of container? what medium do you plan on doing the grow in?

each plant is in its own 1" cube i just havent taken them apart yet since its easier to handle one thing instead of 3 seperate things. i have the plants under a small 40w floresent and a home made humidity dome from a bottle. i put them on the window sill for the picture and then they went back under the light. as for the medium they will be put in a hydroponics drip system with hydroton grow rocks. thanks for the stopping by :-)

had a small incedint this morning. when i woke up and checked on the sprouts they had wilted over. the humidity dome was dry. i think the light i had on it was too close and evaporated all the water inside. so now ive propped them back up and have them back under the humidity dome. they should be able to survive this correct? im like an over protective mother with these plants lol

no problem, lol, thanks for reminding me. 3 inches is good, i'd go to 1 or 2 inches if they are the tubes though, one of the main benefits of tubes is they should put out almost no heat and you can have your light much closer because of it. alot of tubes wont even burn a leaf if its in direct contact with the light.

alright i ll try an inch closer and see how the plant reacts. would you know why my sprouts grew so tall? could it be just because its a genetically tall plant?

but it stretched out like that from when it first sprouted. ive read that they dont need light as sprouts or even when they have the first 2 leaves because the first 2(i forget what they are called) are only there to produce energy and nutrients for the plant. then it needs the light when its real leaves grow out

lol ya just looked it up. the leaves are called cotyledons and are used for photosynthesis
well you learn something new everyday lol

you should have your light as close as possible ...3 inches is too far....when i had my seedligns i had big cfl over it and it was prolly 3 millimeters away (maybe more but you get the point).... this is also good because if your plant doesnt stretch it can use its energy for root development and plant growth. also i recommend you put a fan on so its blowing on your plants...this will strengthen the stem as-well as help for air circulation!
