Ok this is my first ever grow and I am doing it as cheap and simple as possible. I have done ALOT of
research on this to the point where my head was sore. Hours and days were speant researching this so
I am well aware of what i can do to make this better and more "professional" however as i said before
I am going to do this as cheap and easy as possible as I am limited on money/space. There is so much wrong
about my set up (and feel free to comment) but i'm going to try and hopefully succeed on showing people
just how easy it is to start growing weed as alot of the information on the internet is somewhat complicated
and involves speanding ALOT of money on various parts just to grow some plants. So hopefully it turns out well
Set up = 1 pc BOX (thats right, a box) Dimensions 20" High, 20" Deep and 19" wide
2x 125w envirolite grow lights. 1 Cool White, 1 warm red
1 thermometre
Mylar for inside of box
1 desk fan if it gets too warm
I really dont think it can get any more basic than this. This will be a soil grow and I am just as interested as you
are to see if this works. I am not expecting it to but we will certainly see what happens
The first thing you will notice
will be how small the box is i'm sure and I will be using LST to its max potential and switching to 12/12 light cycle
quite early. So i am hoping i can keep the plant under control. If not then we'll cross that bridge when we come to it but
for now thanks for checking out my grow and feel free to drop a post or two.
Day 1 Friday 22nd October
Soaked 4 rockwool cubes in luke warm water for 5 minutes then lightly squeezed
to drain off excess water. Added one single feminised seed to each cube. I placed two of
the cubes directly under the light and two of the cubes under an envelope to shade
(as an experiment to see which is better). Now to wait and see.
Day 2
I took a sneaky peak into the rockwool and i can see the tape root has already came
out of the shell and started to turn round
Day 3
I checked first thing in the morning and one of the seeds which i had placed under the
envelope has shot right up to about 3 inches with a couple tiny leaves!
When i came
home from work all 4 of the seeds have sprouted! Very excited this has happened so quickly.
Day 4
All four of the seeds have sprouted up and grown tiny leaves so no big difference from yesterday.
Day 5
I have decided to transplant my rockwool cubes straight into some soil as the roots are now
starting to show out the bottom. I am using b&q multi purpose soil (with perlite) and i am planting
into 1 gallon pots. Watered until water dripped out of the bottom and placed directly under my grow
light (2-3 inches away) I am also using one 125w envirolite cool spectrum for vegetative growth.
Day 6
Two of the seedlings have grown another set of leaves while the other two are staying rather small.
Day 7 29th October
One full week and I have decided to take out one of the smaller pots as my grow space is VERY small
and i think at some stage i am going to possibly cut it down to just two plants, however i am going to
keep one of the plants in a smaller pot further from the light and just see what happens. Why not eh?
Day 10
Not been much change in the last few days. Plants have grown ever so slightly and there is a few extra
leaves on there aswell. Today the soil is pretty dry (nice and crusty around the top) so the girls are
going to be needing a little drink. Again I just water until water runs out the bottom and place back
under light. Today i have noticed a couple of gnats around the top of the soil. This is apparently
due to the medium being too wet. I have placed some insect tape on inside of the door to catch a few.
I am also going to buy some apple cider vinegar as this attracts the adult gnats to come investigate and
once they do, they die mwah ha ha ha
I will then be placing about an inch of sand on top of the medium
as any larvae the gnats have laid will die. This will also stop adult gnats from laying more eggs and hopefully
completely kill off the gnats.
Day 11
I bought cider vinegar and sand so hopefully this will solve the gnat problem. Also on one of my plants there
is signs of an internode starting to develop and alot more leaves coming through
Wee ladies are starting to
look like plants! Whoopwhoop!
Growing weed is really exciting.
I have been looking into some co2 as this apparently helps the plants growth. Co2 to a plant is like oxygen to
humans so naturally this would be a good idea to have. I am not willing to spend alot of money on co2 so after
some research I have decided to make my own on the cheap. Some people say this has helped alot, other say its
of no use at all. Well I am going to try it and see what happens because...
1. There's no harm in trying and
2. I'm a cheap ass motherfucker
This is made by taking a two litre bottle and filling half of it with water then adding a few cups of sugar and a
teaspoon or so of yeast. Cut a hole in the lid of the bottle and place in some tank tubing about 3cm into the bottle, seal up
the gap and put the tube over the top of the plants. Make sure you pierce holes all along the tube so the co2 can
escape and fall over the plants. Its important the tube is above the plants as co2 is heavier than oxygen and will
just fall to the ground, so if your tube is below the plants they are not going to get any co2, unless you have a fan to
circulate it but its still better to put it above the plants. Shake the bottle on and off over a 48 hour period to fully activate
the yeast and you've got yourself some co2! SIMPLES. This should last for a couple of weeks so just keep replacing it
when theres no more bubbles. Every time you shake it will give a burst of co2 but it will keep generating small amounts
when you're not there. You can find more videos on the internet on how to do this if i wasn't clear enough. I will be making
this once i recieve my tank tubing in the post
