First time build advice!

Hey guys,


I was looking at this setup for my first grow room.


2x4x5 grow tent
400w digital dimmable hps/mh with inline 6" fan
Clip fan
Soil grow 2-3 plants using scrog method


Will that work? Is the 5 foot tent tall enough? It is in a basement so the room stays around 55-60 degs with 35-40% humidity currently

400w Mh/HPS is best in a 4'x4'x5' tent just that extra space will make you grin with pleasure, and less immediate heat to worry about, put fan on a timer

If you're planning on keeping the tent open in the basement, then your temps might be fine. You'll just need a fan to blow the cooler air into the tent so the heat doesn't build up. You could keep that going just fine for veg at 24/0 light schedule. Then for flowering you'll have to pick a 12/12 schedule. If it's pitch black down there, you'll just put the light on a timer. If there's light in the basement, you'll have to go down every 12 hours to zip up the tent or unzip.

If, however, you have to keep the tent closed, you'll probably need a little thought put into the cooling/exhaust of the tent.

i don't think a 400w light will cover a 4x4 area. i use 600w lights for that space. if you are gonna scrog then you can probably only get 1 plant in there. scrog the plant out into a 2x2 screen and then grow one plant normally next to it. that should leave you about 1' at the end of your tent in case you need a dehumidifier later on in flower. the height is fine; especially if you are going to scrog. with a 400w light you can have it 4-6" from the plant because it doesn't give off a ton of heat.
