first thing to buy for a grow room?

The order I'd get things in:

Cabinet/materials
Light setup
Extraction/environmental control
Pots
Medium
Seeds
Nutrients
Smell prevention (generally get this kind of thing last 'cause they don't generally start to smell for a while)

you want to make a decision on the layout 1st, decide if you want to split the cabinet up for a mother/clone area etc. Work out how much space you have, then start worrying about how much light you need for that area, then you want extraction etc to control temps, and do a dry run for a day or so to work out any kinks. Then you can start worrying about seeds and how your going to grow, soil, hydro etc.

They don't need nutrients for the 1st few weeks, or longer if you get slightly fertilised soil, so nutrients are not a top priority if you have to buy things in any particular order, in my opinion.

well mainly right off the bat ur gunna need pots(small and big) and lights and some sort of soil and maybe even a small fan

seedlings dont need very much light so u could get away with a couple 46w 6500k cfls for now and as they get bigger get more lights then ur set for ur nxt grow

^^ good list right there, I would start with the light as well and mayb your inlet/outlet configuration next.. temperatures can make or break you especially in a small environment like that makes sure you have a lot of air movement

and a side note the best thing to happen to me with a small setup is possibly air cooling your light.. makes a world of difference

if you are on a set amount of funds i would say get lighting first,can go with lots of options.cheaper being cfl. cfl will get a new growing going. for my grow the 2 most important things where my lighting and air movement/temps/fresh air.

walmart has seed starting kits for about 5 bucks they work good for me all they r are just cheap humidty domes and rooting plugs

Start planning for the future also. Make sure you have a way to vent or bring in fresh air. If you need to cut holes or run ducting through walls/ceiling. Nows the time.

hell i grow in one of my closets and i did pretty damn good the first go around and all i do for ventilation/fresh air is keep the closet door open works great for me

Speaking of getting a closet together I need to go finish my upper deck closet veg. area. I have 2 TGA Dairy Queen that I need to flip the switch on soon and still not finished. wow didn't think i would get this many answers well the light i am going with cfls at first then going to hps i think there called don't remember but ya i wasn't going to build a Cabinet cause when i close my closet door there is no light what so ever. so that's kool

I have a closet grow space that size and I leave my door open when lights are on and still have a heat problem. I think heat is the biggest single factor that messes with new growers. Ask yourself how many months out of the year you intend to grow and what the temp are like in the room where the closet is. How much can you bring it down with AC? How much construction and spending do you want to do on elaborate air intake and exhaust systems? What are your potential security concerns? This list goes on and on.

The first step for any grow room is not the stuff you need, it's the thought and planning that goes into doing it right.

well im on my 2nd grow i have a fem delicious seeds cotton candy goin my first grow was just some seeds i got off a pollinated plant my buddy had but turned out pretty damn good lol but it dont take much to grow very easy just takes patience

my heat is usually around 75-80 sometimes it gets to about 83 but not to much with the closet door open

i wasn't wanting to cut a hole in my closet but i don't know how else to take out the heat and i was going to use a reg. fan for that

yea dont do any cuttin i havent cut a single hole in my closet just keep the door open and a fan pointed out the door

i have three fans in my closet one on the floor facin straight up one on the floor facing the door and one on the shelf face down

small ten inch fans
