First soil grow ?Question about salt?

I'm growing in foxfarm ocean forest and 4 gallon pots. Started to feed with botanicar pro grow at 1/4 strength about two weeks ago and every other water. I noticed salt build up on drain holes of my pots. That leads me to the question. Is it normal to have salt build up in the drain holes of my pots? I have put a total of three tsp of pro grow into the soil over the last two weeks. Thanks a million, Blaze on

The ph out of the fosit is high close to eight aprox. I lower it to aprox 6.5. Not sure of the ppm. Is the ppm test to see if water is hard or not?

yes and no but high ppm's along with High ph could mean you have high something in you water. You might try this adjust your water "ph" to what you want then let it sit overnight and check the ph again. My bet is it will be high again.

I will try that. I do pull cold water then let sit for 24 hrs but I've been adjusting ph right before watering. Would filtering the tap water help in the case of something high in it?

It would. filtered water will give a new set of pains. you would need to add in everything you need. I got a pure filter and checked it with ph and ppm's. ppm's only dropped about 20 and ph didn't move. Then I read the box. the filter adds crap back to the water. lol

How much is a decent ppm tester? Someone told me that ppm were a hydro matter, is that bad info?

I use my ppm to add nutes I start at 50-75 ppm then add 50-70 every feeding untill I hit the max I want. I've been hitting 850 at max with my old nutes. mine is a cheep one from wallmart. under 15.00
