First Round of Hydro Grow -- NEED NUTRIENT HELP!!!

I am about to embark on my first attempt at hydro growing. I am using 8x 3gal bucket drip system with a 5 gallon resi, and I need a better idea of how to use nutrients from start to finish. I have done some research and I could easily buy a starter kit, but I feel that would probably be a waste. I need some help developing a schedule with actual empirical amounts to stick to, then maybe work from there. Any suggestions on brands, amounts of nutrients/ amounts of water, or timing of nutrient dosing throughout the day would be extremely helpful. I am growing under a 600w light so i find that I should plan on utilizing 10 sq feet of space underneath the light (60w/ sq ft).
