First Room

Hello I am building my frist room and am very excited. The room is 10 feet long, 5 foot wide, & 6 foot tall. I have completely insulated and drywalled the room, for the most part it is air tight. I have a wall that I can use to access a vent to outside for intake outake.

I want to do 8 large plants under 2 air cooled 1k lights.

Here is my problem; I live in California and it gets pretty hot in the room. Can i vent the room really well with heavy intake and outtake or should I go AC?

How would you do it?

Much thanks and Blessings!

In my limited experience, you will definitely need a/c to keep temps under control. I only have a 400w MH and a 600w HPS (running concurrent for at least 12 hours while in flower) and without the a/c my temps can run 95+ degrees (10x10 room cooled by home a/c). My 600w hood is air cooled and vented back into the room, but the 400w is not cooled. My situation is probably much different than yours, but the concept is there nonetheless. It would be good to go ahead and budget for a portable a/c. I use a 7000btu unit and it is sufficient for me (avg. temp 77 during peak), but I would recommend at least a 10-12,000 btu for your circumstance.

You may be able to get away with not using an a/c if your fans are powerful enough and you are venting to an outside location, but due to my setup it isn't something I encountered which is why I wrote what I wrote above. You still have to take into account that you will need to pull cool air into the lights to have any effect, or else you are just moving more hot air into a hot location.

I hope this can help you at least a little bit. I am no "pro" but this is something I also had an issue with and got it resolved. Best of luck and Take care!
