First plant, yellowing lower leaves

Hi everyone

I am a new grower from Malta, where it's become legal to grow up to 4 plants for personal use. I got my seeds from FastBuds, Northern lights auto, and they were off to a great start. However, for the past week the oldest leaves have started to yellow. I tried to fix this immediately by by feeding using Flora Tripart, but the yellowing persisted. Yesterday I bought a kit to test Ph and found the plant runoff to be around 7.4, so I rinsed the soil with around 5 liters of water at around 5.5Ph. This morning however, I found that the yellowing has not stopped, but now relatively newer leaves are starting to show signs of yellowing. The plant is around 23 days old, what would be my best course of action please?

Many thanks

Most genetics will pull the nitrogen from the lower leaves as they're no longer necessary. The single blade leaves and triple blade leaves aka first sets of leaves on seedling plants especially will fade out. If new growth looks good then your fine, if new growth looks yellowy then you have a problem.

I'd say just pluck them off and monitor your new upper growth and don't stress it. It's a young plant it will show some quirks until its developed into a strong big plant. Welcome to the forum!

p.s looks like you might be over-watering a bit (kinda lettuce looking thick leaves) I would practice letting your pot get light to the feel or almost dry then water until you have a little water coming out the bottom and don't add any more water until the pot is light again or obviously drying out. Don't let it get DRY just don't keep it soaked all the time.

Hello fellow Malteser :)

As others have stated it seems to be overwatering and possibly overfeeding. that caused the issue, Initially less is always better I learned that the hard way too... however here's a chart that can help guide you it may be a deficiency.

also if your growing medium is soil it's ph should be around 6.2 to 6.5

Welcome to RIU and happy growing.
