First Outdoor Grow, NEED HELP!

My friend is about to dig a hole over his river bank. He plans to put 5 seeds in this hole. How deep/wide should the hole be, what soil should he use, (Fox Farms Oceanic Forest Soil?), what fertilizer should he use, (Fox Farms Big Bloom?), and what are some good pesticides for keeping bud worms away but not harming his plant in any shape or form? All help is greatly appreciated. THANKS :joint:
