First outdoor experiment

Think I am going to need some help with this outdoor experiment I am about to try.
I have been growing indoors hydroponicaly for a number of years with good results, but now I want a real challenge. I am going to attempt to grow a number of plants outdoors in a cold uk climate.
I have selected early misty and
early girl seeds as they seem to be the best suited to this climate.
I am starting off with pots
Diameter 9cm x 9cm Depth. Using Bio Bizz Propagating Light Mix for the vegetating period and using Bio Bizz grow nutrients. Then moving them to a 12 litre heavy duty pot Diameter 30.5cm
Depth: 24cm Diameter base: 24cm with Bio Bizz All-Mix Bio Bizz Bloom nutients. The position is south-ish facing where it can get the sun most of the day. With a few other nutrients i cant be bothered to explain.

The problem i am facing is the planting period. I want to plant around mid april which will mean 4 months of growing and only a short period in september to october (which can be cold, the plan is to put a layer of polystyrene round the interior of the pots to keep the warmth in and protect against frost) for flowering, I am thinking that if i can cover the plants in darkness for 2 days then let the light back perhaps early-ish august would this induce the flowering stage a little earlier that natural to help increase the yield and chance of getting too cold. Anyone with any experience growing outdoors in a cold climate? Also if you have any helpful suggestions I would be grateful.

Cheers
