First indoor grow question.

I have grown outdoors before but not indoors. I started a legal grow for my wife/patient indoors and am using a 450w HS/HPS setup. Growing in 5 gallon buckets, and I have 5 different strains. They are- sattelite, omar, sour diesel, elvis and 2 from some seeds I had that were VERY good. All but the 2 seed starts are clones. My question is, How big can I grow theese clones inside the 5 gallon buckets safely without risking root tangle? :weed:

together?? NONE! dont do it, but 1 in each 5 gallon, u could grow them pretty big, the rule of thumb is 1 gallon pot space=1 foot in height. and clone naturally have less root space then seed.

my seeded 2 are a bit behind in growth compared to the clones. I got the timing wrong trying to time the grow paperwork lol.

Welcome RR-

You can grow them larger than they need to be for an inside grow using your 450w of HPS and 5gal buckets, so the buckets are plenty big, not to worry about root tangle.
Remember about the stretch and keeping your plants shorter when growing indoors. Good luck

Kewl, I figured I could gettem to atleast 4ft. thanks They are about 1 and a half foot tall now, prob flower them when they get to 2 1/2 feet tall...sound about right?

every setup is diff, but I would say no more than 2 feet maybe even shorter. You will run out of room with 5 plants starting flower at 2.5 feet with 450W hps IMO. You'll see. It's not the same as outdoor. Better to keep them on the short side and widen them out.

Ya, I am in SO. so I'll start the 12/12 at about 2 ft. oh, i also just fimmed them lastnight. going to fim them once more i think.

tell me more about your setup. Room size, lights, growing medium, ferts using... Did you grow outside last summer?
When do you plan on switching to 12/12.

edit: I think 2' still might be a bit on the large side to start 12/12 with your lights and plant numbers. Don't take my word for it thou look or ask around.
I know it sounds strange but there is a lot of growth after the switch to 12/12. Your onto a great start with the FIMming. That will help give them more uniform tops and help keep them shorter.

Hi Caz. I am running a 400w MH/HPS with ballast, in a 4.5' by 6' room. I just bought some organic soil, an aucillating fan, and I am venting through a small window.
And I didn't grow last years cause didn't have a card yet and growing without one would be illeagal :) When we did get one, we had someone grow for us and lets say I wasn't too happy....:shock:

Are you using two different bulbs? The hps should be more than enough for flowering, i dont even have a window in my setup. so that should help with air circulation. The organic soil in my attempts have helped in node growth.

If you want it done right, do it yourself:)
That's a good size space to work with. Is it full?
Are you looking for yeild or taste?

For me it is all bout the taste....:eyesmoke:

As for what's going in it. I have 1 sattleite, 1 elvis, 1 sour diesel and 1 omar. I have clones started for next round. They are= WW/Wrhino hybridX2, northerlightsX2 and one called dog. Theese are beside the clones of current grow. Going to pick the best three or four strains and go with them. Since we can only have 6 flowering.
