First hydro grow

Bottom line without getting too fancy, what would you all consider necessary nutrient wise to get started? Any ideas also as to what is just marketing, and unnecessary? So far i know I need more nitrogen during veg/phos during flower, but some of these other things they try to group together just seem to be over the top. I know this is a broad based question but anything helps. Thanks,

First off, its hard to do hydro and not get fancy.

Id select a brand of nutes that you like. I went with Fox Farm. They have a pretty easy to follow nutrient chart that tells you how much to use week by week. Also, you need purified/distilled/deionized/reverse osmosis water. I think I would like to follow General Hydroponics grow guide next time. Just a heads up, hydro is harder then soil, alot of people say its not, but id say it is, the pay off is nice, it grows a lot faster. I just bought 3 fox farm hydro nutes and used the basic ones.
Also good advice, monitor the PH of the resivour.

What kind of hydro set up are you using?

Get yourself a 3 part from one of the companies that have been around for awhile, cant go wrong and you can mix em to fit whatever the plant needs, forget the additives and learn the base nutes. Big buds not gonna double your yield, snowstorm isnt gonna double your trichs, & floranectar wont make ur buds taste like blueberrys. Most all the bases that have been around for a few years are good, never had a bad experience with any of them.

Dyna-grow...proper ratio, complete essential compounds. Here is the guaranteed analysis http://www.dyna-gro.com/936.htm
If you go another route make sure the GA is really close if not identical.

Thanks for all the help, definitely helps me out. I've learned so much in the last three weeks thanks to everyone out there taking the time. During that time I've read Jorge Cervantes' grow bible, got my MM card, remodeled my entire attic, ordered seed and joined RIU. Next two weeks should be fun too....Thanks again
