First Hydro Grow - DWC, 1200W

Hello all,

I've never had much luck with soil, it's dirty and slow. I have always wanted to try hydro, so here I am!

I based my system on Blazeoneup's recirc DWC. I am running 8 3 gal buckets with two 600w lights. Had trouble with the airstones so I'm just using barbed fittings for air.

These are 3 weeks old, from clone, so far so good. I have done a lot of reading on "bennies" and have stuff on the way to brew tea. Temps stay below 75 ... I don't have a chiller but I hope I can manage without... I'd love any input you have, I'm definitely lacking in experience although I've done days worth of reading up on the subject.

Started in hydro as well. Looks great!

I use 1 600w and water gets mid to high 70s in the summer. Not good for water to be that warm. Sometimes I have issues, sometimes not. I do notice in the winter when the water is low 60s my roots are bright white and way healthier looking than mid to high 70 water.

I think 75 and below is OK ... Not ideal but manageable... I use frozen bottles and bennie tea to keep my res happy.

So I did switch these suckers when they were about 15" tall, only about 3 weeks old at that point...

They tripled in size and are budding now but they are so huge... Too big for my lights/space.. I am considering trimming off the lower branches... Thoughts?

Using GH nutes 3 part, riding at about 700 PPM (or 1.4 EC)...

I'm just glad the stretch is over :o

If you feel you have a solid canopy and it won't allow light down to the inner leaves and bud sites way down below than yeah just pop em off. Basically just treat it like a scrog where you clear under the net. Allows for better air flow through the plant to keep away any mold problems as well.

You should however have a lot of light penetration with 2 600w so only do the bottom bottom if that's what you were going to do. I've seen guys new to clearing the bottom and they did wayyyy too much reaching way to high up so just be careful. It's hard for me to see the whole plant in your pic so I can't really give you a measurement of how much. If you aren't sure just post a side pic to show vertical height and some other whole plant pics and we could get a better idea on what to suggest.
