First Harvest I have a couple of questions

OK this was my first grow. I made some mistakes, learned a lot, and I just want to say thank you to roll it up and everyone here for making this possible.

Anyway, this will be week 8 of flowering (Home stretch baby! ) and Im really excited to harvest and start the drying/cure process.

3 out of 5 plants are about ready the other 2 still have a ways to go.

I bought one of those 60x illuminated microscopes from radio shack, and have been checking the trichomes. Id say 90% are cloudy, 10% clear. So by the end of this week or early next week would it be safe to assume that 100% will be cloudy with some starting to turn amber?

the smaller buds towards the bottom still have a lot of white hairs. Can I chop the Main colas when there done and leave all the small popcorn buds another week or two?



How much weight do I lose with the drying process? Like if I have an ounce wet how much will I have when its totally dry?

I was thinking about water curing the smaller buds so Ill have something to smoke while Im waiting on the big ones.


Theyre in soil, under CFL's. Been using Floura Nova nutes. Started flushing 2 weeks ago but they seemed deficient so I few em nutes again once and have been watering with plain water ever since.

to tell you the true one of them looks like is a sativa is is no were near harvest so you should just keep flowering as for the other cant really tell pics too blurry....but i woudnt recommend choppin the small buds specialy if they have alot of white hairs that emans they are bearly producing so you should wait till there ripped and potent....from what i seen some people see the tops buds ready and chop those down 1st and still let the bottom small ones continue to grow...

slyer ithink you failed to notice he is using cfls hints a shitty yeild.
if they are 90 % cloudy id say you are good to chop here in a week id wait for some to go amber.
and to the weight question, a good rule to go by is about 25% of wet weight.
without alot of cfls its hard to get a heavy yeild. but the grow looks good for them.

and dont water cure anything. dry for a week and then cure them in mason jars for at LEAST 2 weeks.
because when your smokin this bud with your friends you want them to see that you know your shit and it will show with a clean nice high smoke.

I never bother weighing buds wet. All that does is measure how much moisture is in them which varies from grow to grow. Don't try to count chickens before they hatch - bad karma. Just dry them then weigh. I cure for at least 30 days.

general rule of thumb is roughly 60 to 70% percent weight loss from wet, this isnt exact but its usually not far off, as for ur main cola either chop it clean off or just crack the stem so that it hangs down and drop ur lights closer to ur lower bud sites( i prefer choppin myself coz i means its dryin a but quicker). when it comes to trichome colors its really up to you, darker the trichome heavier the smoke, some strains will blow ur head off when cloudy others can be too harsh/heavy if left too amber, truly a personal choice dependant on ur preferance.
