ok so im on day 12, but im going to post all my notes up until todays notes and then ill post my box and what the plants currently look like at the bottom....thanks for checking this out. any and all feedback is welcome aslong as your not being a dick.
Sunday 3/15/09 - Day 1
Started germination of (Reggo) seeds. Placed into moist paper towel and put into dark cabinet to start
germination
Monday 3/16/09 - Day 2
Potted germinated (reggo) seedlings into 4 peat pellets then covered with plastic dome and left in floresent
growlight for 18/6 light. plant count: 4
Tuesday 3/17/09 - Day 3
Purchased timer for lights, removed light to higher position above pellets and used 12/12 lighting. added 2 new peat
pellets with seeds germinating inside the peat. total of 6 plants
Wendsday 3/18/09 - Day 4
Timer didnt really work as i had hoped, i will need to re-read the instructions to get the times 100% correct
next time. one plant sprouted, waiting on it to unfold and leaves to develop. light was moved to one inch above
sprouted seedling. light will reamain on for 24hours. contemplating on purchasing a fan to run on the plants, in
hopes that it will create stronger stems. lights were dropped to one inch to make sure plants do not grow too tall
and weak too fast. im looking to keep this grow very small and compact. I took pictures today to document along
with this log on how the grow is going. i think i may have over watered in the first two days. I will not water
the remainder of the day so long as the plots dont look too dry, i do not want to cause any root damage due to
over watering. Plant count: 6 with one alreadt sprouted. In hopes of trying different techniques i have also
started to germinate 4 more (reggo) seeds. One seed in a bowl of water and the other 3 in a wet paper towel
inside ziplock bag. still debating weither or not this was a good idea to do this soon in the previous grow.
Plastic dome was taken off so light could be closer to the plants. sprouted plant is around 2-3cm and folded
over. my guess is the plant when unfloded will be about double the size. hoping when i return home from work
it might have unfolded. current temp of container = 81 degrees.
Thursday 3/19/09 - Day 5
No real changes in sprouted plant. still folded over, but both leaves have emerged from the soil. plant was
moved from old location (pictures from 3/18/09) to new location in my closet. im planning on purchasing a
cabnet to finish this grow in sometime this weekend. i need something to keep the operation stealth but
still get a decent yeild. this plant (being that its the only one that has sprouted so far) might just be
a test grow after i get the cabnet and have everything setup. the 4 other seeds that i started to germinate
have not poped yet. still awaiting those to start so i can have more plants to experiment on. plants are still
on 24hr light source, one inch from top of sprout.
After returning home for lunch from 3 hours at work i checked on the plant i have now named "Vicki", she (i hope
thats what it is) has now started to bend upright. not completely but shes starting. i moved the light a bit
higher...maybe 2 and a half, 3 inches. I moved the light because im worried that when i go back to work she might
grow at a decent pace and end up burning her leaves on the light, aswell i think this will cause her to stretch
upward at a better rate to reach the light. took a few photos of new location and current state inwhich Vicki is in
Came home again after going to job #2 for 4 hours and looking at Vicki, she is now only bent in a shape of a "7"
rather than an upside down "U". I think this is because...well number one its been growing, but also because i put
the plastic dome on the plot and placed the floresent light back atop the dome. Which i think helped aswell, making
Vicki stretch upward more to reach the light source. i have taken new photos of this and placed them into the photos
folder for this grow. Contemplating new/permanent grow room/box for Vicki and (hopefuly) her friends to live in the
next few months, Also wondering if i should get more lights to maybe help speed the growing process. It currently
seems that heat and light are the core ingredient for Vicki's current growth process.
Current Temp = 78-80 degrees.
Current Height = 3 1/2 cm
Friday 3/20/09 - Day 6
SHE LIVES! Vicki is about 95% up right now. off to work...
Just returned home. checked on vicki, shes 100% upright and looking greener than ever! i noticed that theres a
small brownish yellow burn mark under one leaf which really doesnt look that bad, but its obvious that there was
some water left on the leaf and the light took advantage of it. Vicki looks to be about half an inch tall now.
im going today to purchase some fans, more lights, vents, and i hope a permanent grow box for my lovely vicki.
i also tossed out the other peat pellets because they just wernt growing at all, two were even getting a cob
web looking string around them, i dont know if thats due to a spider in the plot or if its just the peats not
being close to the light, as they were to the right of the light and never directly in it.
New pictures added. started to build a make shift grow box because i didnt want to buy an expensive cabinet.
added another grow light and a screw in 60w daylight that plugs into a power strip.
Vicki has gotten a slight bit taller i can see.
Saturday 3/21/09 - Day 7
So its been one whole week since Vicki was just a seed. she looks to be about an inch tall this morning...
im not positive, i havnt yet measured her properly today but i will soon. Her grow box (pictures added)
is nearly complete, it just needs to have the holes drilled out for vents and electrical wires, lights hung,
fan hung, and a repainting of the white interior. the box is quite small, and im somewhat worried about it.
my issue with the box is that i didnt purchase enough wood, and was also nervious about how big of a box i
should be making (i still wanted this to be stealthy) so her grow room is 3ft high by 1foot wide/deep.
im thinking that with the 2 grow lights on the sides of the box, there might not be enough room to grow
properly or that she will grow too close and burn her leaves. i guess only time will tell.
8:39pm - Vicki's house is 95% complete. All i need to do is get better ventilation holes in the room, she
got her house temp up to 90 degrees today after i put her in the new house and shut the door for about 2hours.
i also added another 60w lightbulb to the mix, which now makes 4 lights in her small enclosure. i also took the
two 60w lights and hung them around 2inches from the top of vicki. tomorrow id like to get some clear plasic
cups to make a humidity dome for her.
Sunday - 3/22/09 Day 8
Woke up and unlocked vickis box. i knew it would get hot in there if i had left the box door closed but i did
it anyway, to my surprise it didnt get past 90degrees in there. i took a water bottle and cut the bottom portion
off to use as a humidity dome for vicki. she seems to like it. Vicki's textured leaves are growing much larger and
longer. the other two original leaves are hard as rocks and she is super green...like hulk green. im going to take
some new pictures of her shortly after i finish writing in this log. i added tinfoil to the floor under vicki just
to add some extra reflection. last night i was online looking for MYLAR and PC FANS to add to her box. the fans i
found and purchased 2 50mm pc fans, for $2 a piece, i will use these as the vent fans, the mylar was just too
expensive and i didnt need nearly as much as what sizes they came in. i may just stick with white wood for now.
i have also been plotting on a new grow room for a future grow made from rubermaid tubs. but thats another story.
Vicki is almost a full inch tall today, and her stem is strong as concrete, i put her right next to the fan today
and she wouldnt budge....and thats a decently powered fan. i have put some buddies into paper towel yesterday
in hopes that vicki might get a female friend or two to talk with in her new home...so far none have poped open.
if one does, im wondering as to how i will fit them all in the box together since its such a tight space.
Monday - 3/23/09 Day 9
So its been nine days since she was just a seed and vicki is doing mighty strong if i do say so myself.
she seems to have stoped growing upwards though, just her textured leaves seem to be getting bigger. last night,
since i still have not put a vent system in her box (waiting on the fans to come in the mail) i left the door open
all night, but even then it still stays 80degrees in there, but her leafs for sure got bigger, and you can start to
see the second set of leaves coming up now. today i decided that i would take 3 of the many germinating seeds i had
started the other day and take the three largest ones that opened up and put them in soil. so i put them in three
different ways...the first one, with the longest root (i did this by root measurement), was put in soil then put
in vickis box under the water bottle dome i had created, the second was put in vickis box and left uncovered, the
third one was left in the jar it germinated in and put back into the cabinet to get no light. lets see what happens.
i put seed one and two under the cfls rather than just next to the floresents...i thought this might help with the
sprouting and trying to find the light situation. im taking pictures of vickis current condition and the seeds
current condition for documentation. i am also going to shut the door to the grow room and lock it while i go to
work for the next 6-7 hours, i know it will get very hot inside there...around 90-100degrees, but vicki seems to be
able to stand that temp and still keep on keeping on. the main reason im closing and locking the door, is to keep
high heat and mositure in the box for the germinated seedlings...in hopes that within the next 48hours they will
sprout and give me 2 more lovely ladies. i also have 2 MORE seedlings germinating in paper towel, both have opened
but i want to germinate these guys for atleast a week before i put them in soil...just another experiment im doing.
well...off to work.
Well im home, and shes still looking like her leaves are getting bigger. but theres this white....film over her.
i misted her with some water and the white stuff went away but once she dried up again they came back, im confused
as to what this stuff is. seedlings have not yet changed.
Tuesday - 3/24/09 Day 10
7:05am - the seedlings are already starting to sprout! it hasnt even been 24hours yet, let alone 48. i think that
this is due to the grow room pushing 100degrees for 9hours last night while i was asleep. Vicki is just over an inch
tall today, and looking as beautiful as ever. i need to stop writing in here and get ready for work though. ill write
and check on more when i return home for lunch.
4:20pm Returned home for lunch but was unable to really get time to look at vicki in an observing mannor... so i
did 5mins ago. these white marks are still on her leaves. im wondering if its from leaving water on her and the light
burning parts of what was reflected. they dont look burnt though. and they go away when watered. so i dont know what
it is, i might look online and see if i can get an answer to what it is or how its caused. vicki is getting taller.
im thinking she might take quite some time before i can flower her though, because shes just over an inch and its
been 10 days since seed. im thinking i may move the cfl's up higher in hopes that she has more fluent and larger
growth spirts. Vickis new friends, which ive named Amy, Katie, and Nicki. Nicki, being the strongest of the three, has
sprouted almost all the way out of the soil. shes a bad ass. Amy, also sprouted but shes still got her head stuck in
the ground. Katie, is a bitch, she didnt florish like Nicki and Amy, she was in the cabinet, all alone in the dark
last night, so at lunch i put her into the grow room and she showed a teeny tiny bit of herself under some of the dirt.
everyone has been watered, everyone has gotten 1/8 of the water/nute mix which is a bowl, full of miricle grow and
water, with two 1/8 drops of miricle grow (i didnt want to put alot in, as im scared i will harm the plants at this
very young age.)
Wednesday - 3/25/09 Day 11
10:13am - Vicki is getting mighty strong and growing mighty well. her second set of leaves just keeps getting bigger.
im so excited for her. amy and nickzi both shocked me today with their progress, Nicki is about an inch tall today and
has her first set of leaves coming along quite nice. Amy, didnt get very high, i think there might have been some shock
to her roots during the transplant for her, but she still stands straight up today and is showing off her set of leaves.
i went online to discuss the issues about Vicki and her white edges, so far noone has replied with an answer for me.
today everyone was watered. normal tap water that has been sitting around for id say 2days.
12:57pm - Im going to get ready for work, so i just did my final adjustments to the ladies before i left for the next
couple of hours. i placed Nicki and Amy in the same pot as Vicki, still in their peat pellets but atop the soil that
Vicki lays in. (pictures added). Vicki seems to be bending her large leafs Upward for some reason, but the second set
of leaves she is producing is getting larger, i think she might just be sheltering these as they are still very
delecate at the moment. Nicki is huge, i did not expect that within 48 hours of germination she would be an inch tall.
she blows my mind. amy however, is still a very short little ladie. but thats ok, im giving her time to grow into her
own. I raised the CFL's to be about 6inches from the top of Vicki, even though Nicki is currently taller than Vicki
(since she is sitting atop Vickis pot and in an enlarged peat pellet. i think this might help vicki out with her
height, id like to see her get a bit taller, and stronger, faster. i have shut the door and locked it, as to not let
my roomates come and take a peak at whats going on and possibly move something around, this is an experiment im
currently trying to do, with the lights height from the plants and the rate at which they grow. i also shut the door
(main reason) because it seems like the ladies like it hot, even though the thermometer says its pushing 100degrees
in the box, these ladies give me the best growth results after hours of being "hot boxed". it almost makes me not
want to install the fans when i get them. i think that once i get the fans, i will install one and use it as an
exhaust, then see how the temps are for a few days at different times of the day, along with different times of on
and off for the fan. i think ill need another timer for the fan, along with another power cord to plug it into. since
the times ive been reading for fans is 15mins on and 15mins off, but the current timer i have is only measured in hours
not mins. and i have been thinking that once the plants get to 8-10inches tall, i want to start 12/12 lighting on them
but take the floros out to give more room to the box and get three of the "Y" adaptors for the CFL lights to plug into
the powerstrip, then get 4 more 60w bulbs and plug everything into the powerstrip. this can work with the fan still
being pluged into the strip, but then, i think i will want to put the fan on another power strip so it can run 24/7 to
circulate the air in the box, rather than leaving it sit, untill the intake or exhaust fans come on. im still so new at
this, i need to go back online and research ventilation and the best ways to make my conditions and area limits work in
my favor. last night i got another bag of marijuana and pulled out like 4 or 5 more seeds, three im saving in a jar, the
other(s) i placed in a moist paper towel to try and get them started, its not that i want (or can handle) 6 plants in my
1ftx1ftx3ft box, its that i just want to be sure i get a female, so pretty much what im doing is growing them all until
one or more gets to be 10inches tall, then im flowering and looking for the sex, all the males will die and be removed,
and the best 2-3 females i get will stay in the box and continue to flower, the other females (if there is any, and they
look good) will either go to another grower or just simply be disposed of. i have the rest of this week and until next
friday to hope that no smells start (as im low on cash after setting up this operation, surviving, and buy marijuana to
help me through the process, but) because i cannot make a carbon filter yet, and i still dont have my exaust/intake fans
yet, im waiting on the mail ladie to drop those off. anyway, off to get ready for work. ill be back with results of the
plants and how they reacted to the current setup of lights and locked box.
9:06pm - THE SEEDLINGS ARE HUGE! especially amy, who grew from like 3cm to a full inch in just a matter of hours, she
really stretched for the light. makes me want to lower the CFLs a bit, but im going to keep them where they are.
closed the box again and ill check on them tomorrow when i get home for lunch.
Thursday - 3/26/09 Day 12
7:00AM - opened the box, took pictures. locked box...off to work.
1:02pm - i just opened up the box, and wow...these things are strong, its been a steady 90degrees in there all night
and all morning, and noone looks damaged or drained. though everyone did need a good dose of water, everyone is still
surviving, and going very strong, Vicki is starting to seperate her first set of leaves and her second set of leaves
so the experiment of making the light higher was a plus, it also went very well for Amy and nicki, who you really cant
tell the difference in, both are the same height (which is shocking for amy because she was originally so small) but
Amy is more on a hill in her pot. Nicki, shes more in the center of her pot. infact, i think amy might be taller than
Nicki now. ill have to go and take some pictures and find out. (pictures added to album "3-26-09 day 12"). oh and before
i forget, i posted my question about the white stuff on the plants online and i got some replies; one person said it was
hard water dried up on the leaves, and another said it was too much salt in the water, and another said it was the chlorine
in the water, so it looks like ill be using my bottled water insted of tap water from now on with these babies.
My Box:
its one foot wide, one foot deep and three feet high.
Inside Box - Top:
Theres the fan, the power supply and the lights
Inside Box - Bottom:
this is what it originally looked like
Current state:
Sunday 3/15/09 - Day 1
Started germination of (Reggo) seeds. Placed into moist paper towel and put into dark cabinet to start
germination

i went online to discuss the issues about Vicki and her white edges, so far noone has replied with an answer for me.
today everyone was watered. normal tap water that has been sitting around for id say 2days.
