First Grow Questions

I have spent the past few days running about store to store getting everything I need to put together my box I am making.

Lights so far:

2 32 Watt CFL 6500K (Hung over 2 plants)
2 32 Watt CFL 3500K (Hung over other 2 plants
4 23 Watt CFL 3000K (Hung draped in center of box)

Box Dimensions:

2' x 2' x 4' made of 1/4 inch plywood with 2"x2" corner supports
Flat White painted interior

4 plants (Femenized White Berry Seeds)
34" or vertical grow room per plant
0.8 sqr ft soil per plant

Soil Mix: 1 part Perlite
1 part Potting Soil

Ventilation: 2 72 CFM 120mm Computer Fans

Timer: Dual Plug Digital Timer

I also purchase a digital temp/humid monitor.

Few questions...

1.) Positive or negative pressure? How should I set up the ventilation? 2 bottom intakes and 2 top exhausts?

2.) What should I do to keep the humidity under control? This will be in my basement where it is about 35% humidty and 65 degrees right now.

3.) Is that enough light to supply these plants?

Thank you in advance for any help you may be able to offer.

you want to try for negative pressure to help keep smells inside the box. yes, use your bottom holes for intake and the top ones for exhaust. play around with where you put the fans to find out what works for you, but fans on the exhaust are more important than fans on the intake.

your humidity should be ok - up to 60% won't hurt your plants

you could use a little more light - another 100 watts should do it

good luck

really should have more of the 6500k bulbs than the 2700k for veg. and opposite for flower. 2 exhausts with the fans in them at the top and 2 passive intakes at the bottom should work well. you'll want it more humid than that for the veg stage. try to get it between 50% and 65% . you can try leaving a bowl of water in the box to see what the humidity goes to. your temp seems fine. it will go up in the box with the lights on for 18 hours a day but you've got plenty of room before its "too hot". that should be plenty of light for veg but you'll probably want to add 2-3 more for flower. good luck. i'll be looking for the pics of your box.

i would also add a fan inside the box just to circulate the air and help strengthen your stems
I have a Hawaiian Breeze desk fan that I am wiring to the left wall to create the stimulation the stems need.

Thank you ALL for all the help.

It's too cold outside, I keep having to run out and throw coats of waterproofing in the bottom where the soil will be put.

I've been losing myself to this project already, and the seeds haven't even showed up.

Right now I have a little bagseed project going on to hold my mind ove till my big project gets on its way.

I also found a humidifier in the basement that I could use if needed.

What watt and temp bulbs should I get to add to what I have?

I really wouldn't add more than that until flower. I would just drop the 4 2700k and use 4 more of the 6500k. those 2700k will be much more useful in flower.

vegging = 6500 K
flowering = 2700K.
however, you want a little mix of both lights in each phase. so for vegging, do 3 6500K bulbs for every 1 2700K, and then do the opposite for flowering.

Personally you def need some more 6500k even if you go as low as some 27 watters... your humidity is good and try to keep those temps in the low 70's.. all the research i done and pm bonz shows that the temp relfects the number females to males... great info that thread :peace: check out my cfl its kinda closet stealth but maybe can help

How large should the passive intakes I am cutting into the door be?

2 72 CFM fans in a 12 sqr foot box

Dimensions and number of holes? Or just one big hole?

I plan on using dryer sheets to filter incoming air for the time being. It's worked in the past haha
