First off, greetings everyone. I am brand new here and brand new to growing. From what I've seen from grow room photos I have a unique situation and I would really appreciate help in understanding what I need to get to succeed in the carbon air filter area. I'm only growing four plants using a DWC outfit with a 600W HPS. My room is large for my needs: 13 feet long, 17 feet wide, 8 feet height and it has two doors that open into other parts of the house. I have two fans: one drawing air in the room and the other drawing it out the other door. I need to install a carbon filter/fan system. I have three possible exit options: 1) I can expel the air after it's been filtered into an enjoining room as long as there is no odor. 2) There is an old pipe that used to be used for a wood burning stove that travels from the ceiling of the room to the roof. I believe the pipe's exit was roofed over but in the colder months I can still feel air coming in. I may be able to exit the air through the pipe if the volume isn't too much (any thoughts specifically on this idea?) 3. I can expel out a window but it would be near ground level and I do have neighbors. I did the math and my room is 1,768 cubic feet. Divided by 3 for how many minutes I want the room to be ventilated I came up with 590 cfm. Adding in for some additional factors like temp of light and for using a carbon filter I need a filter around 620 cfms. Do I need such a large filter for four plants? I'll get whatever is required for security but that's a large pricey outfit for four little plants. Any advice gurus? I would appreciate it. - Thanks, Shiva Leaf
