Decided I wanted to try my first CFL micro grow after moving in with my girlfriend and am more then excited. Would like to one day smoke only my own, save some cash and know exactly where it came from, me :D.
I apologize if this thread is in the wrong location, this is my first thread and first time posting ever. Have searched through RIU for quite some time now and have always found good responses, well mannered people and information I never knew about. Can't wait to be a solid part of the RIU community.

Strain: Northern lights Feminized (ordered from Nirvana, should be here in 2 weeks or less)

Box dimensions: Old dresser roughly 3' x 2' x 1' (Height x width x depth)

Ventilation: Two 4" x 4" computer fans capable of moving 44 CFM each.

Odor: Carbon filter mounted to the outtake fan located high by the lights to help remove hot air.

Reflective material: Emergency blanket from Canadian tire

Lights: Veg = Three 42W 6500k / One 42w 2700k
Flowering = Three 42w 2700k / One 42w 6500k and small 23w 2700k to fill shadows.

Soil: Miracle grow organic potting mix in the brown bag (0.10-0.05-0.05)
Miracle grow perlite (0.04-0.01-0.06)

This is the part I am having trouble with, I do not have any small nurseries near me or big garden centers where I was able to easily find fox farms etc which I know is much better. I have the normal local shops such as Wal-mart, Home depot, Target, Lowe's, Canadian tire and with the knowledge I have this seemed like the best choice...opinions/ better options would be awesome.

Nutrients: I have no idea, I know to not start feeding until after 2-3+ weeks and at quarter/half strength because of the soil i'm using but then what?

Tools: To my knowledge I have all the necessary tools. (Ph control kit, sharp sterile scissors, humidity/temp gauge, pots, timer, extra fan)

Updates:
I can't wait to get this project started and I apologize for no pictures, the box is currently at my parents otherwise there would be.
Once I get started and I see some sprouting i'll upload pictures every 1/2 weeks.

:leaf:Thank you so much for the read and any input you provide, happy toking everyone.:leaf:

Sounds good to go to me too. but I know shit about soil.

Have fun
Thanks :).
Haha same here about soil and nutrients. I looked through the internet for quite a while which is how I got all my other information but when it comes to soil and nutrients everyone has their GO TO stuff that they swear by. I found that fox farms was pretty consistent but I just can't find it around where I live and am not ordering soil lol.

Yup first grow ever :).

Grew jalapenos, Basil and chili peppers in a smaller grow box using cfl's and was impressed (always enjoyed growing plants >.<). Just hoping this baby turns out the same haha.
What kind of soil did you grow your peppers in?

if you needed a "better" recommendation for a soil mix id go with a equal parts mix of perlite (which you have) vermiculite, and worm castings. All should be available at your local stores. Only nutes in this airy mix are those in the worm castings which works excellent for the first 2 weeks of growth from seed. Nutrients, i'd recommend ordering the general hydroponics GO box for great organic starter kit.

hey no problem, everyone has their own preferences to their grows but i've used all sorts of potting mixes from miracle grow to fox farms and then i started using the recipe i stated above and afterwards i've had nothing but very good successful grows without any nutrient issues, be sure you add in molasses into your nutrient regimen, its an excellent way to feed the micro organisms in your soil which they in turn provide better nutrient uptake to your plant and also helps remove SALT buildup in your system as well
