First grow, 1000watts, GM Kush, advice appreciated

Hello everyone, this is my first grow. I picked up a 1000watt HPS ballast, air coolable reflector, and timer for 100$ off craigslist. I received 20 grand master kush (grand daddy purp x master kush) seeds from a fellow member on this site, who is a very kind person.

I've been vegging 2 of the seeds under about 69watts of 6500k cfls for 30 days. Two days ago I switched them under the hps to veg( I know I'm supposed to use MH, but I figured until I obtain one the 1000watts of hps is better than the 69 if cfl.

I cut the leaves stem where it meets the main stem, is that a proper way to take a clone?

Here is plant #2, it was doing the best at first, but then grew into the lights and then a series of deficencies rendered it a bit messed up, but since I put it under the hps and started to use foxfarms veg it's had a lot of excellent looking new growth and the damaged leaves are kind of coming back. Here are some pictures.

I was thinking about getting a dual arc bulb that was 600watts hps and 400watts mh, so I could use it for vegging, it's either that or get a MH conversion bulb.

After I get these guys going well, I'm going to germinate some Arjans ultra haze #2, Sour diesel, Lambs breath, Lemon Skunk, and maybe this freebie G13 labs Sour Diesel, though I might not bother, I hear they're the worst genetics.

I'm using organic soil I bought from a head shop, plants so far seem to like it. They sprouted on the 30th of May, and are about 10-12 inches tall. My grow room averages about 85-90 degrees and low humidity, I know this is too hot and I will be adding a window AC unit in the room, as well as a co2 regulator or a LOT of yeast in the next couple days or so.

Man it got hot today, 105 outside at peak. Plants stayed around 85-90, I really need to get this window AC unit in.

I germinated some arjans ultra haze #2 today, because it grows like such a pure sativa, I'm going to super crop the hell out of it.

you can almost watch your plants grow under a 1000 watt light, no joke.

Pictures of my two biggest plants, these were taken a couple days ago, they've grown and gotten healthier since then.













Currently I am germinating 2 arjans ultra haze #2, Sour diesel, Lambs breath, G13 labs sour diesel, Lemon Skunk, and 9 more grand master kush's. Once they've sprouted I will have a total of 19 plants growing under the 1000watter.

How bad is the 85-90 degree temperature?

You'd get away with it, but dont let it go above 85 if you can... 75 is optimum.

I'm working on it, it's just so hot outside it's hard to even keep my house cool. I'll be getting a window ac soon. I can't wait to get the dual arc bulb in, I really think my plants are going to love both spectrums.

Plants are doing awesome! Finally got an ac unit in today, I put it in the window directly next to the closet that the grow is in. It lowered the ambient temperature of my house from 88 degrees to 76. It hit 107 today, with a heat index of 110, it's ridiculous! Now the grow room is about 78 degrees,

One of my cats severed an arjans ultra haze #2 sprout, though I replanted it and I THINK it's growing, it's out of its shell and has 4 tiny leaves that are developing....I think.

Without further a due, here are some pictures!

My small plants are going on their 3rd set of leaves, though the leaves still only have 3 leaves, when should I transplant them from the 16 ounce cups? Also, I planned on using 1 gallon pots for all plants aside from the arjans, which I intend to grow big, very big, and will use 5 gallon pots. Will one gallons be enough for the root system to allow the plant to be around 3 feet tall? Or does it need more room to grow?

Hey Ill tell you I topped my lates AUH2 at 23" it grew to about 31/2 ft. I flwered my others at 18" naturaly and the biggest was like 6'3". So be careful they will get monsterous.

Thanks, it was such a bargain that I couldn't resist.

I plan to update pictures about once a week or so, so there will be noticeably change each time. I've got 2 different kinds of sour diesel, the g-13 labs stuff sprouted last night, and one of my misc pots is also sour diesel.

I think I'm going to have to germinate more arjans ultra haze seeds. Both germinated fine, I'm pretty sure my cat killed one, though it's still up in the air, and the other one germinated but never made it out of the soil. Sad sad story.

you think its all gonna fit under that 1 lamp? id wait on germinating ur seeds till next batch. are you going to do a seed crop?

Dude under 1000w he can fit over 10 plants so yeah all those under 1 lamp.

No seed crop. If some of my grand master kush turns male I might harvest some pollen and get some seeds, but I planned on cutting some clones of my super females, and ultimately ordering more seeds on the next grow.

I want to maximize my yield given my square footage. If anyone has some suggestions on how to do this please let me know.

Right now only 3 seeds haven't sprouted, and I'm suspecting to have only 1-2 not germinate at all, as everyone of my kushs has sprouted except 1, and given the genetics and sproutability of the other ones I'm sure the last kush will sprout, now the other 2 seeds I'm not sure, they're rediculously good bag seed, but rediculously good bud shouldn't have seeds.

I have this obsessive need to fill my room with plants. How many is too many? Right now I'm suspecting a little under half of my plants to be male (a few plants are fem). I have no basis on them being male other than a 50/50 ratio.

There are 15 confirmed plants, 2 of which are feminized. The two big plants I have, I don't know their sex but I'm thinking about cutting 4-5 clones off each. Would this stress the plant out much? If I cut the lower off shoots what will happen when they grow back? Is this wise?

The arjans ultra haze #2 I don't think is going to end up living. It hasn't deteriorated any since I planted the sprout back in the dirt, but at the same time it hasn't grown at all. It's just sitting there, looking like 4 tiny green leaves on a stem coming out of the ground. Is it rooting itself? I have no idea, Though I will wait by its side day by day and nurse it until it either kicks the bucket or comes to life! The other one for some reason germinated just fine, but never sprouted, and I sifted through the dirt today and it was a dried up germinated seed, clearly dead, and it was alive when I germinated it in a orange medicine bottle with a roll of paper towels in the middle pressing them against the side of the bottle, then wrapped in a black trash bag.

Wtf Arjan, even the bag seed and G-13 labs sour diesel are doing better than your "ultra haze". I hope the actual plant is more robust than this, as soon as I find my greenhouse seeds disc with the other seeds in it I might plant more, but the aspect of not having a huge sativa in my garden on my first grow is slightly appealing, but I don't think I can do that to myself and not grow the ultra haze, I'll just have to Fim it early and then flower. It was both a sad and happy day today.

The g13 labs sour diesel came out of its shell mostly, but true to the nature of the company, didn't quite make it.
The Arjans ultra haze #2 kicked the bucket. When I find my seed pack I'll plant another 1 or two.

I planted 5 more bag seeds today, exceptional smoke, don't know the strain.
Grand master kush is flourishing, really taking off and a lot of new growth, incredible vigor.

Sorry about the long time to update, I haven't had a camera for awhile and I didn't want to use my phone, I don't feel like the 1.3 megapixels would give it justice.

I think I'm about to start flowering, I'm not sure. I can't decide if I want to grow everything out a little bit more, or make that end product come faster.

Yeah I realize they are, I'm trying to SCROG because of my width restrictions. I can keep raising the light. thanks for the compliment!

Cool grow. I've grown a few of Arjan's strains and I like Lemon Skunk the best. Very potent with a strong appley taste. It's very touchy about any sort of nitrogen in early flower so be careful about that. The nutes I use for all my other strains will cause N toxicity in the LS. But it's worth the pain in the ass.
