first closet grow, help! (pics)

first time growing indoors and in a smaller closet. i know the pics arent the best, the only camera i had was on my phone. there little over a month old, they started sprouting from the seed on oct 9 i believe. i havent been around alot to care but now that i am i need some help keeping them alive! there on a timer with a 19/5 schedule. any input as to what can be causing this, what nutrients i should go get, change in light cycle, any help is appreciate.

dude thats over a month that they have been in seedling form and that is why the growth isnt very good...

transpalnting them to bigger pots will help as the roots need to develop, also using good soil will help (try something with perlite in it) - you can check the root system and if its all twisted round the bottom of the pot then its root bound and needs transpanting if its to survive.

too late to do anything now, even if you could its not worth it. start over. what kind of light are you using? watering?type of soil? air flow? light distance? ph? temps? give me deatails on what you have and are doing now and what you plan to do in the future. you definetley need to research growing more if you are going to grow bud with any real success. any questions for me?

its not rootbound, im sure of it. those big containers are more than enough for the probally pitiful(no offense) root system those plants have the foliage and roots grow in kind, if you have a good healthy plants they need to have bigger roots to support all their needs, that little thing he's got doesnt need a very big root system. it looks like he fried the plants imo.

Next time, start with smaller pots and let your seedlings or clones build themselves a little root ball before you transplant into a larger container. Remember, seedlings only need to be watered every 7-10 days. You want the roots to have to search (grow longer) for water as the pot starts drying. Judge when to water by the weight of the pot.

i was afraid i was going to have to restart. there currently in 5 gallon buckets which is fine, one was started in a solo cup and i know for a fact that i left it in to long and had some root binding(the one in white bucket) as for lighting i have 4 lights currently about 4-5in away i have about 4/5 more to put up later on(i think there about 100watt bulbs each. as for watering, im thinking i over watered them. i have no idea about ph i dont have any test kits. i know the airflow is pretty weak with a temp around mid 70s

your not trying to use halogen/incandesent bulbs are you?

honestly i don't know. i was givin these lights from my friend who grew last year. they seemed to work fine for him because he got some bud filled stalks. im not sayin they were correct lights but they couldve been for all i know

i water my seedlings in dixie cups every 3 days. every 7-10 days would fry em. the plants roots like wet dry cycles, the dixie cups of soil get pretty dry at 3 days w/o water if you have proper lighting and airflow on them. you need to get a fan to have blowing on the plants and you need to open the door for awhile a few times a day to keep fresh air in there.

omg man START OVER.. those are sad lil plants for over a month old.. get better lighting n a fan on those babies..

i was watering about every 2, one was in the bucket one was in the cup( i only had one bucket at the time) they were drying out pretty quick, usually always leave the door cracked open and ill be sure to put my little fan in there. ive been thinking about starting from scratch so i have a good foundation or should i try and continue with these?, also when is a good time to start feeding them nutes.

start over, your starting in dixie cups was a good idea, just make sure to poke a bunch of holes in the bottom for drainage and transplant at 2 weeks approx into bigger pots(i'd use a 1 gl pot and transplant again before flowering but you can just go straight to the 5 gl pots u got now if you want to when you transplant) feed 1/4 strength nutes 3-5 weeks in, watch how they respond, nuteburn isnt too hard to spot, it also depends on the soil and how well the plant is doing/its size. feed them lightly at first till they can handle higher doses of fert.

im starting over from scratch. currently i only have soil, im going to get some san/perlite as well. i was also going to buy some new lights, they actually are incandesent bulbs. i was going to get some cfl's. im a little confused by the whole lighting situation. i know i need different lights for the different stages but i dont know which lights i need for each stage. im not sure how many/what wattage to get so any helping hand is awesome

Check out hi-bay and low-bay lights on e-bay. This is by far the cheapest way to get your hands on a metal halide or high pressure sodium lamp. Either of those would outperform CFLs

6500k is blue spectrum and 2700k is red spectrum the sun puts out more blue spectrum light in the spring/early summer than it does red spectrum light. later in summer the sun starts putting out more red spectrum than blue spectrum light. i use and recommend a mixed spectrum. people will tell you you cant use red for flower and do good but ive used only 2700k bulbs from veg to flower and it made no difference. using 2 2700k to every 1 blue 6500k light from when i decided to just use all my lights all the timw for both veg and flower and its increased growth speed and bushyness and stem thickness i got from it kinda shocked me. how long do you plan to veg? i wouldnt use less than 2 42w 2700k and 1 42w 6500k for plants flowered at 6-8 inches. keep the lights as close as possible and make sure its as bushy as possible. the other reason i recommend you do you the dixie cup to start-seedling inevitabley stretch some, well, when the seedling stretch phase is stopped(by getting the lights closer than when it was germinating, keep the bulbs 3-4 inches away till the second set of true leaves show and you drop tje light to 2 or so in away, then transplant it into a bigger container while getting it so you can bury it up to about a cm below the true leaves and the stem you bury will start putting out roots so it takes care of the stretch and helps with rooting at the same time. veg the plants 3-4 weeks then switch to flower.it works well for me. lol
