First Closet Grow 600w MH White Widow

Looking for some tips and advice. Started my first indoor grow in a converted under stairs closet. 600w MH light setup, Fox Farm Ocean Forest Soil, White Widow fems and Blue Dream autos and Northern Lights autos. Germinated seeds in a paper towel and have repotted from solo cups to 5 gallon grow bags. Tap water feedings (Kansas City water is very hard), only a few Fox Farm Grow Big veg feedings.
Struggling to keep my White Widows short and stocky enough for more autos to catch up. They’re about 4 weeks behind. What can I expect with the autos vs non autos?

Good that you have the auto's in their final pots, above ground growth will be slow to non-existent while they throw out roots.
Check out how to lollop.
That's a lot of plants for a first go

If you're using hard tap water you can cut it with rainwater. Hard water makes everything more difficult. Also you can get a 55 gallon drum to keep water in and just keep a bubbler going in it to help get rid of chlorine.

Thanks for the info! Do you think I can keep my White Widows in Veg until the autos get tall enough to flower? I’m afraid I’ll out grow the pots or the space I have. Or am I better off getting a 2nd light and tent for the autos can stay on the 20/4 schedule?

I think that adding a tent is a great idea, elsewise it's going to get real crowded.

I’ve grown auto exclusively for years. I decided to change it up on my last grow and mixed autos and photos in the same tent. What I found was the autos with 12/12 were two weeks slower to finish than previous grows of the same strain and yielded less than my average of that strain. However I don’t think adding a second light and tent would pay for itself on just one run with a few autos. I ran into the same issue as you with my photo getting too large. Lots of bending and topping saved the day. You can expect the autos to start to flower around day 25 all the way up to day 45.

Couldn’t wait any longer! Started 12/12 Flower cycle. Couple bushy white widows and 3 Blue Dreams that may be a little early to flower, but lesson learned about various stages of growth in 1 room. Next grow I will have 3 different rooms for various stages or cycles.

10-18-23 Moved the Blue Dreams into a 5x5 under a 1000w hps today. Couldn’t get in and out around the bushes to water anymore ‍idk. first world problems I guess..
