Ok, Here are the stats:

I have a bubbleponics 400 watt switchable MH HPS system.

Growing enviroment: 3'x3'x62" high reflective tent. It is set up in my basement.

Lights: 400 watt MH and HPS ready. Also, 4 CFL's putting out about 5000 lumens. Those aren't hooked up right now, however.
Nutrients: Using the stealth Hydro micro, grow, bloom.
Water: I use my brita water. it comes out a PERFECT 6.5. I keep the ph tight.
seeds: 6 Ice, 6 Northern Lights.
Fan: 6" inline fan hooked to cool tube via 9 ft of duct and then stick the other end of duct back into tent for cross ventilation.

To date: ok so I bought 15 seeds, got 12 germinated. 6 are in the bubbleponics planter cups (Already in system), the other 6 are in rock wool gently placed on top of my system. I do this because you can grow all of them in rockwool till you figure sex with a forced fem cycle after some growth. This gives me a better chance at 4 or 5 ladies. A little rudimentary albeit...but there is a kicker...!

9/6/10: Right now, 4 days in, I have the seedlings 4 inches away from the 400 watt MH light!! They are fine in temp with the 435 cc fan blazing through. 4 inches!! completley comfortable temp!

After I got some balls and took the risk of the MH instead of the previous 4 CFL's, as soon as I KNEW the temp was ok..I took this risk: now even my meager seedling are coming around! This was only 4 hours! Imagine the possibilites on 4 ladies who have been getting that kinda juice from so early! For nutrients I put in 1/16 suggested level for a mature plant, everyday.

I put 1 liter of new water a day into the system...at a perfect ph, say 6.2 is what im gtting. I check ph in morning, for adjustement and at night. Listen, PH and the way I do it is.... 1) figure out your waters regular ph...THEN (2)add nutirients according to age, then check ph again, (3) adjust ph with the up or down solution sparingly. Don't bug out over ph! Its an easy usually SMALL change in up/ down formula.

I like the little bit of new water everyday thingy..keeps things fresh. Mental notes to self are get a better air pump for down road..I'm gonna oxigenate the shit out of these plants. Lastly, use common sense...I am turning the water supply on and off every few hours..making sure the plan ts are moist but notso over staurated with water they won't grow for lack of oxygen. Use your green thumb..feel it out. I'll post pics in a few. My humidity is a bit low, around 40, and temp is 75.

Looks great get that humidity up tho you be fine make sure you keep the res temps below 70* GOOD LUCK

Nice set Bose !

The best ph for hydro is 5.8 and 5.9
The most nutes can be absorbed at those numbers

You need to take the end of that ducting and vent it somewhere else.
Not back into your tent.
That's not cross ventilation. It's recirculation.

Cross ventilation

When people open windows in opposite sides of the house to cool the indoor temperatures, they are using cross ventilation.
The image below (from the Division of Architecture of California Government) illustrates the process.

You know, I really appreciate that. Couple things for today: 9/7/10

I figured on my own the, "Blowing back in" isn't the best....lol....keeping humidity WAY down. You're explanation's right on.. In fact, even closed without it blowing back in there, the humidity climbs, just slower. So the bane of my existence right now is: humidity.

So what I'm trying today is to keep the tent flap wide open. I know I lose some lumens, but those lights are down there pretty close!

Also, I did have to back up those lights! lol!..I guess due to my over- watering, by keeping the bubbleponics system humming, I almost drown half my sprouts. I quick got some air in there, turned off the bubbleponics, and switched to spraying them and turning on system, (Bubbleponics), for few minutes every couple hours. They loved the lights on them since the were all water logged. I saved most of them, but ultimately, the humidity starts creeping up, and even the temps a bit....anyhow the lights are still low, about 16" now.

So right now its, door open, bubbleponics recently turned off, nutrients and ph balanced. I'll keep what you said (Flo Grow) about the ph in mind. My ph tends to head down and I'm phing it back to say 6.6..then it creeps down slowly. Plants look good. I'll take a pic later. Just small sprouts. I'm down to a viable 8ish plants. Next time my sprout numbers will be much better. As for my seed vendor I used, that's yet to be seen. I don't care what they look like or the size, color...I want end results. Period. So as long as i got two good females, i'm good to go. Really appreciating all comments and so on.

having real trouble gettingthe humidty above 40 without hourly spraying....I need a humidifier, but thats so much humidity, you'd be watching that too!...thinking about ditching tent all together.

Try leaving a soaked towel in their to add humidity. Just change it out and wash it everyday so it doesnt stink like a foot.

The humidity is not a major concern unless it's too high, and that's only b/c of mold issues.
My humidity stays bewteen 35 - 50, year round. I just let it be.
Now temps (ambient and water), ppm's and ph are the big 3.

Also, keep that ph under 6.5 too
Above that and you start getting lock-out issues

Ok, seems like it just you and me Flo Grow...lol. Thanks for the humidity lesson..you know I'm using my outdoor green thumb and saying at like 40 it's a real nice day out, and all the water and bubbles in the system..I'm like wondering if humidity is THAT big a factor. Now I get it, too much could be HUGE problem...too little you need to be real dry real long to make suge difference. I'm even thinking that nice dry air with wet roots matches up. One thing I'm noticing, indoor/outdoor a lot of similarities from a common sense standpoint...

ok 9/8/10 day 4 total from hatch.

Now that my humidity fears are over, I'm starting to enjoy this. Atleast 6 have real good strength. I'll pull one or two girls from there. I'm just praying an ice pops. I thinki I can tell by the darker hue in some seedlings those are the NL's..I think I have 2 ice 4 NL. I do have two others, but we gotta see on these bring back to life attempt.

So I now switch out a gallon of water a day, re filling with a gallon ph balanced with all daily nutes in there. I mix them nutes hard shake em up till gone or small then I pour it in. You can just fell they love thenew water. Speaking of speaking to plants, I got the vibe they like me in there..like in an outdoor garden..you know..lol..call me crazy, but they went fro m a tough start to realizing things improve everytime they see me. I still turn system on and off every say 3 hours i turn it on for 2 or solmething like that. the ligthts are staying higher..say 18. I did have one leaf brown on me. Rewal suprised think it was from the 4 inch day. lol. Anyhow I'm feeling these guys now. Sometimes I recirculate, mostly don't, sometimes blow air on em for strength...and I talk to my ladies. No picutures today no viable changes. I can just feel once they set in safely, they are going to just grow and grow and grow.

I plan on vegitating the 2 ladies I get for a LOONG time. I plan on fimming then setting a big steel wiry square holed thingy around it about 24 inches..then I'll get all the limbs threw their appropriate hole(s) so to speak, then I'm gonna flower. Hard. With major nutes and jacuzzi water....ok maybe not jacuzzi water but....

ok, so I started this post, I'm gonna man up 100 percent. I have 4 viable, maybe 6 out of 15 surviving seeds. This is my first indoor, I came in a little cocky, I TRULY put in time on the web and all the forums before purchasing products or seeds or before any risk....So I came in cocky, I got my bell rung. Check it out I did the entire sprouting process messed up, I was worrying about the wrong thing on humidity, and like my only leg to stand on, doing the nutes nice and easy and all that, well I found out last night I fucked that up too. So considering this, I put lamps too close, bugged on humidity for nothing, blew air back in thinking I'm helping, almost drown the seedlings, and now this:

I didn't realize with the stuff I'm using, you can'nt, okay ill use an example:

You use the down ph stuff b/c its necessary at another time in the same resevoir, or for other newbies, to the water already treated with the down ph you can not use up ph. So here I am, you I was fgoing to post the 5.8 I was maintaining on my ph with a pic...but in reality, I was shocking them, thus shitty growth or deaths. So i had too empty it out, further shock, new water at like 6.0 and little nutes again. The only reason any survived is im always easy on the ferts from outdoor grows....

so 9/9/2010-

Limited growth, did new water to avoid further toxic strain or shock. im leaving em in dark 7 hours and besides reasonable down ph additions will never make that mistake again. NO UP PH IN SAME BUCKET AS DOWN PH....they seem to be chilling now. I'm backing off now letting it relax now. i need one lady man. That's it from the most honest post on here..

i didnt know that ... I been using PH up and PH Down in my reservoirs.

im told they will die..in truth i had about 12 looking good beaming light lots a little tips doing good even with fuck ups and bang, when i REALLY looked at it, they were curled down a bit, small even for a weekish..so I'm like what's up? That was def it I notice a liuttle surge. I noticed another surge right before I messed with ther up and down together actually. So 5.8 is great advice but if you miss it and your within a good range just chill and perfect that. I think normally it goles up with nute and stuff then gently you usually knock it down. i mean I don't know have you grown to maturity? And flo..give me more on ppm and proper measurements there- of....please!!! temp please? im like 60 water and 75 up top. I NEED ONE LADY.

There's no need for concern with using PH Up and Down.
Just don't swing the PH too far too fast.
I use it in my res with no probs.
Just don't put directly on the roots !

Mine were doing the same thing leaves had small brown spots , brown edges too so last night I checked my PPM and it was too high at like 575 so I took 2 gallons out and replaces it with R/O water , it brought the PH up to 6.2 but lowered the PPM down to 420-450 . I keep my PH anywhere from 5.3-5.8 ... The say DWC reservoir temmps should be at 68 degrees I use a 5 gallon water cooler ( igloo cooler ) to keep my rez temps at 68.... I kid you not if you go the cooler route your temps will stay 68-69 degrees for a whole week.

flo would say you're golden at 5.8 so your good. it was the ppm in your case, little too much fert. yeah you did it good then, now i mean.

Thanks Bose !
5.8 and 5.9 are the "golden" numbers for the most nutrient uptake by the plants.
I try to stay 5.7 - 6.0 and not 5.5 - 6.5 (use this as minimum/maximum).

BH, you're right. Coolers are the shit and make dwc a lot easier.
Trick is to put the frozen bottle in the cooler 15 - 30 minutes BEFORE lights cut on.
Gets the temps cooler faster, and keeps them down longer during and after lights.
NEVER had mine over 69F and as low as 61F.
65F is the perfect temp with the most oxygen.

ok gonna give everyone an update today later....In the mean time meet, "The Bomb" it's about even 50% miracle grow acid loving plant food, 20 ph down, 30 micro nutes basic. I know Miracle grow already has the base compuonds or whatever, but I like the dissolving of my micro, anyhow....I clean tank in 2 days, and those are the right amounts in there, and glass was a bad bad choice...lol. But definatley interesting...water is ph 6.1 ish ran through carbon filter...so i dump that in a 6 gallon. Its all whistling and bubbling...kinda cool. I'm kinda having fun with these given the tough start.100913-103954.jpg
