First Auto Grow questions

Preparing for my first attempt at an auto grow. My plan is to run 4 total. 2x Original AK, 1x Pineapple Express, 1x G14. Will be using Happy Frog and the FF Trio. I plan on just letting them grow naturally with no training the first time around so I can get a good understanding of the process. So I just have a few questions for the experts:

1. Does my plan sound doable for a newbie or is it going to be a little much for me?
2. I plan on using a QB 220W, will it be enough for all 4?
3. I have only germinated one wet paper towel before. NASC recommends the solo cup method with water. Do y’all think paper towel will still work or should I follow the guidelines from the bank?
4. I mostly see autos in fabric pots, will regular plastic pots be ok? Or do they need the added oxygen and airflow due to short life?

I’ll be starting a journal once I get everything going. Thanks in advance everyone!

1. Yes
2. I suppose that depends on how much canopy area you will be covering. Seems a tad bit on the under side to me.
3. A whole crap ton of methods work. Personally I just go straight into soil in a solo cup.
4. People use fabric pots because it helps air-prune the roots and helps mitigate risk of overwatering ( one of the biggest noob mistakes). You can grow in any container you have though. Plastic works fine, many amazing growers still prefer plastic.

I planned on just putting straight into final home so there’s no transplant stress on it. So just wondering if there’s one better way than others to pop the seed.

I would say the most popular methods still are mostly the same
  • Paper towel method
  • Soak for 12 hours or more in water (or in water with a tiny bit of H2O2
  • Plant seed directly into medium
  • Rapid Rooters or the like in a grow tray
All of these work very well. I have had 100 percent success rate with just going straight into soil. Never hear anyone complain about rapid rooters. I wouldn't personally worry about a soak or scuffing the seed with sandpaper or anything special unless they are really old.

Sweet thanks for the info. Think I’ll stick with paper towel for 3 of them and I’m gonna plant one directly into soil. See what happens. Gonna get them going here in the next few days

Can I put rapid rooter in final pot with soil mix pop the seed in and do it that way or does the rooter have to start outside final pot?
