Finding and examining the right trichomes

My understanding is that there are two (or is it three) kinds of trichs located at different places. And that only one of these are the kind you want to look at as they cloud to decide when to harvest. Is that correct so far?

If so, where are these trichs located (and where are they not) and what's the best way to look at them? I have a little microscope but I can't get into a bud close enough and hold steady enough to look at it. I'll have to trim out a leaf or something (each time I want to check it), so where should that come from?

There are two major types of trichs, glandular and non- glandular, some look like straight up stalks or tubes and some look like an errect penis with a big head.
Regardless, with your microscope, you'll see both types and you bo by both. They pretty much go cloudy or amber together.

To examine a trichome to determine harvest time, you clip off a leaf on the Trichome Chart, When to Harvest
