Final questions before I start to build.

So I'm going to be starting a cab in my closet this weekend. First time building or growing anything but I think I've got most of the basics down, Just a few things I would love clarification/opinions about. It's going to be a 2'x2'x4 foot cab using a 250 hps, 2 exhaust vents linked up to carbon filters with passive intake.

1. Walls. Is white paint, white plastic or mylar best for covering the walls.

2. Which produces a better yield sog or scrog, and how many plants should I use with either set up.

3. Will s standard power Bar plugged into a regular wall socket be able to handle the 250w hps and fans?

4. Does anyone have a suggestion for a well suited plant species for this type of grow/dimensions (Ideally sold at the www.vancouverseedbank.ca cause thats where im gonna go pick them up)

5. and any other general tips/tricks for a first timer to make the process as easy as possible.

Thanks for any help, much appreciated. I'll post pics when i get started this weekend.

1. mylar is the shit. white paint is good tho if u cant afford or obtain mylar. id recomend the 2mm mylar, its easier to manuver.

2. sog is a better yeild than scrog overall. scrog is better if you want to grow less plants with more time. sog is better growing more plants in less time.

3. the power bar will be fine for the fans and whatever else but the 250 probably comes with or needs a ballast. i wouldnt plug it into the strip, but directly into the wall just to be safe.

4. whatever strain floats ur boat. theres a million. do a lil reading on reviews and stuff and see waht sounds good. i just recieved my afgan kush, big buddha blue cheese, wonder woman and white widow yesturday from attitude.

5. you'll need pretty good ventilation obviously. good luck man

1. Mylar is best. I personally would use flat-white.

2. SoG. With 2x2 area that is 24" by 24". If you get 5" square pots, you could put 16 plants in that area with room to spare.

3. The power cord will plug directly into the wall

4. Indica, Indica, Indica. Get indicas. You dont have a bunch of height.

5. Since you're using seeds, let them get about 5" tall and put them directly into flowering. Around week 2-3 of flowering, clip any lower side branches if any. This will lollipop the plant and you'll get nothing but the best top cola nugs.

Goodluck. With 16 plants you should get a couple oz's.

It is probably too late but...I have a 2x3x4' originally was cfl, now 400w hps mounted on top.

So I would say, bigger is better. If at all possible increase your height, especially if you plan on hanging light in box. And if you have space the horizontal dimensions. If you do not I promise you will remember the suggestion because it will not take long before you need more space! I wish I had a minimum of 4x4x6', so with a 250w at least more height!

The one power strip is ok with surge better.

For me passive intake was not enough with a 265 cfm blower pulling with cfls! I know have 2 50cfm bath exhaust fans blowing in. Passive hole still there but probably don't do much. If not using passive intake then the exhaust equals the intake, so if you have a smaller intake fan, the exhaust is now restricted to that flow...so with passive... I still open up box during lights on to keep temp in check. If the house is cold (60-65F) box can now maintain 80-85, too high for me and I have struggled to get it that low. I now remove heat very well (Air cooled hood pulls off top of plants with cool outside air blowing on them)

I went with paint because it was supposed to be better for heat issues. I have a roll of mylar, and chose to just touch up paint recently because it was easy (I also have 10,000lumens/sqft). Though I used flat white paint, as usually reccomended, I am not sure if Bright white ceiling paint might not be better. It is more expensive. It also would have more resistance to water and easier to clean due to the added gloss. I think FWP is suggested because it is cheap and no hot spots but compared to mylar or panda? The ceiling paint is even advertised as **% reflective like mylar and panda film.
But on this I really do not know.

I also have a 2x2x4' veg box. I would say any more than 4 would really be pushing it. I have 5 in my 2x3 but I screwed up and vegged for 8 weeks from seed. I did this after going straight from clones. I feel they need some veg for yield, not 8 weeks! My box is overfilled for sure! pics on last page of journal.

Wheels. I put them on both boxes and glad I did.

Good luck!
