Wierd issue I can't find an answer for.
Everyone I have talked to around town has said they never heard of my problem. And it seems some of the posts on here about this PH problem is opposite to mine.
I have used FFOF soil and find that running even distilled water makes the plants have problems (spots, leaf curl etc). Spring water is even worse. Without getting into my PH ranges which is based off something that seems entirely impossible to get accurate when using the iodine vile form. I will just say with what I have to do to get plants to grow in FFOF. This goes for 4 different strains I have tried.
Distilled water, and about an 8th teaspoon or less of Earth Juice PH "DOWN". Which from what I read on the container and could smell, is citric acid. No idea if theres anything else in it. If I add this small amount to distilled water, the growth is just explosive, with no leaf curl, or spotting of any sort , or just acceptable or very little in general.
I have to bring distilled water actually down a couple points to get things to grow. This is with all plants. Herbs on my deck, catnip, mint, basil, anything.
The only thing I add to my FFOF soil is maybe a 3rd or quarter Perlite. Which is not suppose to have an effect, which I have tested using run off water on just Perlite and my PH tester solution. Nothing changed.
What I notice is after adding PH down distilled water to a plant in FFOF, instantly the run off water PH has risen.
My theory is that when I add this slightly acid water, as the plant dries the PH is rising. Bringing the plant through a series of PH changes from lowest to highest beyond the instant run off, it will climb over a couple days also. Allowing the plant to uptake all nutrients possible. Which is why this is working for me. But then how is it opposite from someone else's problems with this same soil and water type? I have read people have needed to bring the soil PH up.
FFOF with PH downed distilled water. Only thing that works. Has anyone else ever heard of this? And why if you know.
