Does anyone else see the contradiction here? This came from the above article.
"Health Canada has countered in court documents that the current Medical Marijuana Access Regulations were never intended to permit the growth of an industry. The system came into place in 2001 with 85 permits; in 2013, more than 29,719 personal use permits were issued. Health Canada projects that by 2024 there will be 450,000 recognized users, creating a taxable industry with potential annual revenues of $1.3 billion."
According to my number crunching there was an average of 2469.5 patients/year since 2001. By 2024 there will be an estimated average of 42028.1 patients/year using med mari. Yeah ok.....never intended to permit growth of industry. But wait...there's a potential shitload of money to be made. Suddenly it has become a industry where above board profits can be made.
I applaud the VPD. They've got their priorities in order. Common sense indicates, that if you stay below the radar and don't do anything too stupid, peeps in bc are going to be alright to continue growing. After all, someone has to supply the dispensaries.
