Thanks for your help so I'm going with this would this be good http://www.bunnings.com.au/hpm-15m-10amp-1mm-core-handyman-heavy-duty-lead-extension_p4330725 . also do youthing I could also run a fan on it as well
thats 10 amps not 10 gauge something like this http://www.wireandcabletogo.com/10-3-SJTW-Yellow-Heavy-Duty-50-Extension-Cord.html?gclid=CLOu3_b70cwCFQEmhgodlSgKew don't forget your light uses almost twice the wattage when it starts up for brief amount of time.... and i doubt your fan uses more than 50 watts so yeah it'd definitely be good

I've always been funny about using extension leads for ballasts so I would create another socket it's very simple just pull a 2.5mm twin and Earth from the closest socket and wire another one up on the other end of course make sure the supply is disconnected first

Would it still be good to run it 15 m outdoors undercover to garage?

Yes that should be fine I would just be sure that when you run it out side run the cable through plastic trunking the circular kind and just try to run it out of site like along side a fence or something

Thanks I might look at that option. So can I join wire to wire like from the old power point that I would be taking it from

Thanks would a 10amp outlet be good
Yeah wire nuts but i forgot , you're in australia is this 240v or 230v extension chord you're using ? if it is you'll be using not even 3 amps you'll definitely be good with whatever extension chord you use if its 230 or 240v

No I would take the socket off the wall and insert your live neutral and earth cables into the corresponding holes and then run that cable to another socket and do the same thing in the uk all out double sockets are rated the same so there's never a problem just adding another one to a circuit I will take a picture later and show you how I've done it

So you just put a cable inside like this one and run it where you need it to go there are holes for you in the back of the box so you can put your cable through pal

Not sure what you are suggesting, because you stated in another thread that you are an electrician from the United Kingdom. I have read on the web about people in the U.K. adding a spur circuit to an existing ring circuit, however, it is also my understanding that ring circuits are commonly used in the United Kingdom and to a lesser extent in the Republic of Ireland, and are also found in the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Hong Kong and Indonesia. To the best of my knowledge, the rest of the world does not use a ring circuit in their dwellings, therefore it is my understanding that rest of the world uses radial circuits in their dwellings. I have no idea of what is the wire size, nor the circuit breaker size used in the consumer unit (circuit breaker panel), for an Australian radial circuit with 10 amps sockets.
