what kind of vent fans are the best, want something small and very quiet. in have about 224 square ft.

the best 'vent fans' are those inline fans which cool air-cooled hoods or cooltubes. A 460'ish can be used to cool about 2 lights. HTG sells a GrowBright line of inline fans that are very quiet (52 decibels for the 460cfm) and cheap.
