Exhaust problems in my Stealth Cabinet

My cabinet measures 30in wide x 18in deep x 37in tall. I bought a 6in inline duct fan to cool it, but it doesnt seem to be doing anything. Ill include a pic, but I have since removed the intake fan and cut 4 more intake holes from the bottom.

Temps are about 93F. I put a bowl of ice, that may last for 3 hours tops, and it went down to 88. Temps in the room are about 77, but looking to get that lowered with some of those fancy heat blocking curtains.

I dont know what the problem may be. It seems like the fan is blowing air from both ends. maybe its because the exhaust pipe isnt straight?

Is this a lost cause?

should I invest in some PC fans? Would they be enough to circulate the air sufficiently?

Ive pretty much run out of money and if anyone could help me figure this out with the supplies I already have I would really appreciate it!

You need to have an intake fan & exhaust fan

I am running about the same size cabinet and I am using a 40 cfm in & 165 going out with a carbon filter attached

And it runs about 80 so maybe look into a couple more fans and run them 24/7

#1- intake & exhaust you must have or where's it gonna go.

#2- the fan on the bottom is going to do jack shit because you have it next to the ground

#3- unless that's a ball bearing fan, you shouldn't be using it tilted like that. Won't work good.

Check my grow for fans. They work like a charm & relatively same size.

Poke a hole at the bottom of your wall where you other fan is and add another pipe there

And you do not want electrical below water that is a BIG NO NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So loose the fan at the bottom and get some that you can have on the walls

if i was me doing your set up i would put the intake fan on the wall where it can get good cool air (not on the bottom) and take the duct off the exhaust..duct really aint neccasary with what you got just taking that off might help alot...and get more powerfull fans.. i got mine online at coolerguys.com i got the 120mm x30mm i think it was and they was 120cfm really gets the air moving and cost i think 50 or close to it for two fans plus shipping and only took maybe 3 days...take the duct off and move your intake see what happens and if anything just cut a few extra holes on top so the heat can get out

Thanks guys.

The dresser is about 5 inches off the ground. you can see in the pic that the intake has several inches of clearance for cool air to get in. I figured cool air is going to be closer to the ground but I guess I will move the intake to the door.

This inline duct fan just seems like a POS. I regret buying it. I guess I am going to try to sell it on amazon.

Ive seen on another thread where a guy made his own cool tub out of a glass vase from somewhere. or some sort of clear tube... not sure where I would get a plastic one.

I am looking at case fans. The Silenx ones look good but theyre kind of expensive @ $19 + shipping. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835226012 ...

Three of these would be the same price as a Valueline

My fans are a hell of a lot better than that! I bought them from the Philppnes & spent maybe 20 for two. i can plug them in or cut the wires off a ac/dc plug & use it to control speed...Internet is the shit brother!

ya the fans your looking at i wouldnt recommend either....i got mine on coolerguys.com and just look for the ac fans which lets you plug right into an outlet and no need to cut wires and they are cheaper too....just make sure your get one that has good cfm i would say 80 or up no lower...120cfm would be best that would gurantee good air flow....www.coolerguys.com check it out man im telling ya

The inline duct booster just wont work that well in your situation. I use one to cool a 400w hps and it worked to keep the temps under 80f....all good. Then i reworked my room and put two slight bends in the duct work and BAM...90f. The fan will move some air but not if there is any bends in the system, they just can't deal with static pressure like a true inline can.

thanks man. about how loud is it in your box? I know it says 46db but how loud would you say that is? I found these that are only 20db http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2211703&filterValue=Standard+case+fans&filterName=Type#tabsetBasic but I would need 2-3 and to wire them.
ya that maybe the only downfall is they are alittle louder than my other ones....have you ever heard a dehumidifier???well thats as close as i can compare it...or even a bigger fan on low....you do hear them run but i tell ya they move the air and no splicing of wires just make sure that you get the ac cord as well they dont come with the fan...stupid i know....you can even check out www.pctoys.com thats where i got my first fans but they wasnt enough when i added more lights....just google ac fans but i used coolerguys and i really liked them and trust them let us all know what you decide happy growing man

the first fans i ever got was at best buy and i tried to wire it to a ac plug and blew it up...i put it all back together and they took it back no ? asked but i learned to just get the ac ones the first time and get the more powerfull ones the first time as well....and i dont think you will like them ones from radioshack..i know i wouldnt try em....i dont want to see ya waste money on shit ones...i dont know how old you are and your situation with online purchasing but im a telling ya bud them ones from coolerguys are great

cool guys. I'm a senior at university. I am pretty comfortable with ordering things online. I just dont like paying shipping. Ive never sold anything myself online. but as I need to get rid of this inline fan I have now, I guess I will give it a try. Ive been recommended the AC fans from radio shack as well as the ones you have posted. Im not sure what I am going to do. I may fuck with the box as it is a bit more now to see if I can get the inline duct fan to go straight out. if that doesnt work I think I will probably talk to someone at radioshack to see what their return policy is. from there I will reconsider my options.
