26 hundred bucks for a swamp cooler? Get outta town! Unless it's big enough to cool a whole shopping mall, that's way too much!

If raising the humidity too high (in your area) is a potential problem - evaporative coolers (swamp coolers) probably wont work too well anyway. They only work thier best in areas where the humidity is low to begin with. The dry air allows the pads to evaporate water, thus producing cooler air - with the higher humidity as an "Added Benefit".

I would recommend "Swamp Coolers" to anyone who lives in a "warm" "dry" area. I live in the "Inland Empire" of Southern California, during the Summer it is often over 100 degrees f., always over 96-98 degrees f., with a low humidity (often single digits!). Swamp coolers are ideal for this type of environement! Because of the nature of the beast, they blow lot's of air that is both cool and more humid than outside air!

swamp cooler?! i laugh at people who buy these swamp coolers. Go to walmart or target and buy a damn "cool mist" humidifier for $30! its the same thing. Has a filter/wick that sucks up water and a fan that blows through it. Cools temps down easily by 10 degrees. I'm not sure what is so much better with these swamp coolers that cost $50 for the cheap ones to easily $100+?

EDIT: Now that I think about it its probably the large rooms that would need a swamp cooler. boxes and tents though could easily use a cool mist humidifier.
