Evaluate my Grow Plan

This will be my first time growing and I want to do it right the first time. I'm hoping to be able to grow some amazing bud. I'll be ordering some crazy strains (G13 Haze, Alaskan Ice, and Northern Lights are at the top of my list) online and I want them to reach their full potential. People have told me that as a first timer I might get some decent nug but it won't be what I'm hoping for. Here is my plan for growing.

Grow Box:
I want to grow 4 plants in my 3'x4' floor area closet. I'm am going to build a 6'H 4'W 2.5'D grow box. I will make it air tight with vents and reflective on all inside walls with 2mm mylar film. I was thinking it would be possible to avoid getting a reflector if I already have all sides and the ceiling covered with mylar. Would this work?

Light:
I haven't officially decided about this yet. At first I was considering both a 400w MH and HPS for the vegetative and budding stages. I'm concerned that this might be unnecessary to get both. I was also thinking of just buying a 430W Eye Hortilux bulb to cover both stages. I would also consider 600w or 1000w bulbs? Would this increase in wattage significantly impact my potency or yield

Hyrdo Setup:
I will be using the Ebb and Flow system with a 30 gallon sterilite reservoir. I will use a water pump to pump to pump water through a ½'' vynyl hose through a hole in the bottom center of the tray. It will also have a second precautionary ¾'' drainage hose which will extend 6'' above the tray bottom to avoid an overflow. I will also use an air pump and air rocks to oxygenate the water/nutrient solution. I will use small rockwool cubes for the seedlings, then put them in a slightly larger cube and put it in with hydroton pellets.

Nutrients:
I've heard Advanced Nutrients is the way to go.

Carbon Dioxide:
Does it make a significant difference? Where would I go about getting some?

Pinching:
I am under the impression that pinching my plant with significantly increase my yield. But will it affect my potency at all?

Ventilation:
What would you recommend for a ventilation system in my grow box?

Odor:
How bad will it get? I will be in a 9'x9' room which leads out immediately to the kitchen and living room area which leads to a long hallway. I would like to have the odor confined to minimal smell in just my 9'x9' room. How can I do this?

So looking at my setup can I achieve my goal of lots of amazing high quality product (I mean some crazy fire bud)? Is there anything I can do better? Are there any factors that I have forgotten or do not know about that have a significant impact on potency or yield? Any other tips?

Thanks

Warning: Total Newb posting..

But to keep the smell of some hopefully bad ass plants confined to that space, your going to want to get a carbon filter.

Yea man .. get a carbon filter or even make one yourself to save money . this site has plenty of alternatives to buying an exspensive one .. good luck and good grow :)

good luck man

a 9x9 room is going to have to be completely seeled off. I mean, remove the dry wall and caulk the hell out of everything. Then put up your reflective. a 9x9 room is going to need about 100 bucks worth of mylar to completely cover it up.

The odor is going to get real bad. I mean you know what an eighth of dank bud smells like through the bag? Well multiply that times a million. Your going to need a carbon filter as well.

I also suggest using ona creams and whatnot to absorb some smell

You'll need a reflector to make sure the light is all going down on the plants.
The 430 would work fine.
CO2 does help alot.
Pinching produces bushier plants but also extends the veg time.
Ventilation is a must!! Only vent 30 minutes after the CO2 is injected to allow the plants to absorb it.
If you keep "negative" pressure in the room that you're doing it in, no smell will go into the other rooms. But you still need to filter with charcoal the outgoing exhaust air.

Peace.

Get the reflector

400 w should be ok. Consider some t5's for sidelighting.
Get a digital ballast, you can switch bulbs @ 12/12. Buy the best bulbs you can afford. Look at the lumen output.
Definitely an air cooled hood. Duct to the fan on one side (drawing air out), other flange, leave open to vent the room also.
Install a charcoal filter, u/v scrubber or odorsok on the out-side of the fan. Hopefully you can duct this into another room, or you can install passive intake ducting from a colder location. If you simply recircultate the air in the room, it will heat up the entire room and your ventilation will be ineffective.

Get a cycling timer. You cannot keep the rockwool wet all the time.
The other option is to ditch the rockwool and just use hydroton.

Nutrients:
I've heard Advanced Nutrients is the way to go.
I like floranova because of its high concentration and ease of use. +koolbloom for flowering.

Carbon Dioxide:

Yes. In your tight quarters, heat will be a problem. Unless you're going to install an A/C, co2 will probably not be feasible.

Pinching:

There are many ways to keep a plant squat with multiple bud sites. I like LST, myself. Look into supercropping, or maybe for 4 plants w/ that size - SCROG may be best for you.

See above (light)
