entering competition...any oatmeal ideas??

so I have the opprotunity to enter a minor
baking competition at a local oatmeal
festival.. I was wondering if anyone knew
of any ooutstanding recipes including
oatmeal that would fit into one of these
categories:


breads
cakes
pies
cookies
Bars
snackmix
Healthy (low fat/low cholesterol)


I was hoping perhaps one of you granola/
trail mix loving hippies would know a thing
or two about this subject... lol

Baked Apple

(This recipe yields 6 servings)


  • 3 cups rolled oats (quick or old-fashioned)
  • 2 cups chopped apples
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup melted butter( or subsitute for weed butter or oil)
  • 1/3 cup applesauce
  • 1 large egg - beaten
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 teaspoon
Prepare a 2-quart baking dish with a light coating of cooking spray.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

In a large bowl, combine the oats, baking powder, salt and cinnamon.

In a seperate bowl, mix together milk, egg, applesauce, butter, and brown sugar.

Stir the liquid ingredients into the dry and pour into prepared dish.

Bake for 20 minutes.

Stir the oatmeal, fold in the chopped apple and bake 20 more minutes until top is lightly browned.

Spoon into serving bowls and serve with milk and a little extra brown sugar.


You can replace the apples with equal an equal amount of blueberries or other fruit.

EASY, YUMMY OATMEAL COOKIES
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Melt 2 sticks butter. Pour over 1 cup brown sugar and 1 cup sugar. Add 2 eggs and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Mix.
Combine and blend thoroughly flour, soda, and salt. Stir in oats and nuts. Drop by teaspoon onto greased baking sheet.


2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
3 cups quick oats
1 cup broken pecans
1 cup raisins

Bake 10-12 minutes.

OATMEAL-BANANA HOT CAKES
4 ripe bananas
1/2 cup low-fat or whole milk
1/4 cup sour cream
2 eggs
1/2 stick (4 tablespoons) unsalted butter
melted
2/3 cup cake flour
1/2 cup quick-cooking oatmeal
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
warm maple syrup, for serving

1. Heat oven to 200 degrees. Mash 3 of the bananas with fork in medium bowl; stir in milk, sour cream, eggs and 2 tablespoons of the butter in medium bowl; set aside. Combine flour, oatmeal, baking soda and salt in largwe bowl. Fold banana mixture into flour mixture, stirring just until blended. 2. Heat remaining 2 tablespoons butter in large skillet over medium-high heat; pour 1/4-cup portions of the batter into the skillet, spacing them apart. Cook, in batches, until bubbles cover surface of pancakes and underside are lightly browned, about 2 minutes. Gently turn over; cook until other sides are browned, about 2 minutes. Transfer to oven on a baking sheet to keep warm, while remaining pancakes cook. Mean while, slice remaining pancakes cook. Meanwhile, slice remaining banana to top pancakes; add maple syrup to taste

there u go! 3 easy things u could try... i would try them tho before you actually like have other people eat them.....

i think you might have missed the edit i made to your recipe, it just proves not to trust me in your kitchen unless you want to get fucked up, cuz i might slip something in you didnt notice lol

the competition is sept 5th so I got a couple weeks to perfect it.. i'm kinda excited!!!

nitrous. it wasnt meant to be the focus of the photo, my shirt was. it says, 'id rather be snorting cocaine of a hookers ass'. and no, im not much for cocaine or hookers asses....just humor is all.
