Hi all! A year and a half ago I had gotten into a car accident and had lower back pain for a while. I had always had pinches in my back and spasms due to many years of tile work being hunched over and spending spare time in my computer chair. The accident was the first time I had gone into the doctors for it though. Last month I went to my pcp and got checked. He said I had mechanical issues and my spine was out if alignment and hip displaced a little. He gave me a prescription.for a month and I ran that out. He just gave me another and recommended physical therapy. Is this something I could get it for as I've had issues with it for years? Also if it just classifies as chronic pain I need to have 6mo of records right? Thanks for taking the time to read my wall of text. Doing this from my phone. :-/

It sounds like something you could get certified for to me. What about your pcp? Does he/she certify for mmj? If not, get your records together on the injury and go see someone like Sulak.

Def get certified. There are several Dr.s strictly doing mmj recommendations, some of which need no med records. Also, think about tincture. I have been making big batches for my patients with body pain. Just a thought

yeah if it happened over 6 months ago you would be all set, I had not been to my PCP for 3 years because he wasn't helping me with my condition and I wasn't doing the pill thing. Exactly what I told my certifying doctor on why the lapse in time.

Hey all thanks for the replies. So I went back in and my xray they said shows no malalignment but he gave me some other prescription and recommended a spinal specialist for physical therapy. should I bother doing the therapy? And what doctors don't need as much records? I'm just tight on money and these visits, especially pt, will drain me to no end lol. Thanks again for the time.

You can find many MMJ doctors in the southern part of the state, that said first step is call them they (most) will have you sign a release form and have your records mailed or faxed to them some offices require mailed. Then they will review (some) and if you qualify will schedule to come in for a office visit/consultation and get you on your way or certified if you qualify. You can ask to make sure they review them ahead of time too, google Be well my friend they have two offices in the state and are decent to work with. Hope this helps and keep us updated. P.S. I just got my cert from that office less than a week ago.

Thanks for the swift response. I just peeked around their website. I noticed it said 6 mo with dr patient relationship with pcp, I just got this pcp a little over a month ago and before that my last dr was a pediatrician lol. I really do not enjoy going to the dr office and avoid it like the plague. I might do the physical therapy once or twice just to see if there are any good stretches/work outs I can do for my back regardless. All he prescribed for me were 2 different NSAID, different one per month, but honestly I can't feel any difference. Even today I felt a snap in my back and I thought I was going down. Sounded like cracking a finger then my back got really tight. I'm just basically looking for an alternative for the pills really. I always take ibuprofen and other nsaids and I can't imagine doing them long term is any good for me. When I get the extra cash I'll probably do a pt session and maybe a check up. Time will tell!

Yeah it had been over a 3 years since I was at my PCP. They did nothing for me in the past, and being self employeed the last 3 it makes it tough to pocket out money just for a "checkup", and sent on my way with a new pill, new treatment plan, after 3-4 of their plans I came up with my own and it works much better

Yea that's what I was thinking. Someone I know with bad back pain uses edibles from high cbd strains and said it really did the trick. Not much of the high feeling but more of the relief. So I be more interested in something like that. Going to call today and see if I can do a payment plan or something for the pt visit. Hard to just be like "sure I just have 100+ to spend today" If they will work with me I'll see their opinion as they have my records already.

Well while I'm waiting to get in there for pt I figured I'd ask more questions. Do you guys think it would be worth going for without the full 6mo or should I just wait the couple months left? Are you required to register to the state? And if not what are the pros & cons of doing such? Just trying to get myself ready for going in. thank you all for the replies thus far. :)

If you feel it will help now go now, start the process its never to early. As far as registering with the state that is optional. It all depends if you wnat them to know and don't mind random visits, otherwise why do they need to know as long as you follow the laws/rules. The only pro I see is they give you a wallet card as a 8x10 sheet of paper to carry around can be a pain in the arse.

I use Dr Sulak in Falmouth.

My recommendations:

Don't have your records faxed, mailed, or sent in any other way besides you picking them up and bringing them with you. Their office actually told me that it is best to get the records yourself, as some docs might not(and don't) feel it's urgent enough to expedite your request for a while, or "until they get to it".

Be sure to have 6 months of care/coverage records for your disabling condition. If you've had trouble before this, that could contribute to your condition, get records of that. ie: old hospital records, physician office visits, x rays... Otherwise, You're probably wasting your time and money.

His office's payment is $300 for initial visit. $200 for renewal. However, if you can show that you are impoverished(out of work, getting public assistance, food stamps..) they will take $200 for the initial visit. At least they did last year.
