Eek, what now?

So, tragically new member here...be nice =].

Around a month ago, I found a couple seeds in a bag of some really good pot that I decided to throw in with my Basil that was in my window sill. 5 days later, they sprouted. A little later on when they could handle it, I transferred them to their own pots.

It will be nearly 5 weeks now and I've included pictures. I have no idea what strain this is, a cpl friends thought it was diesel, but I have no clue.

My question is WHAT do I do now??

Everyone I know has a different theory about cutting fan leaves, pruning, feeding, etc.

All i know is I give them a lot of love and only water when they need it and they seem really healthy so I would hate to drastically change their environment in any way. I have no idea when they are supposed to flower, or if my light (literally natural light in a southern window) isn't sufficient for it.

thanks for the help!

Your plants look good. Natural light is the way to go if you can. The days are getting shorter in the northern hemisphere where I live, so they may not grow too long before they start to flower. So here's the conventional wisdom when it comes to light; 18 hours of light or more per day will cause the plant to grow without flowering. 12 hours of light and 12 hours of darkness per day let's the plant know it's time to reproduce. This is when they grow their flowers.

There is all kinds of advice on how to grow. Here's mine; use the natural light to grow it while you can. People say pot is a gateway drug that leads to other drugs. I think it leads to carpentry and improving your grow space if you can't use a natural environment. You may need more nutrients as your plant depletes what's in the soil. I use compost. I've read that tomato food can be used for the Mary Jane. Keep in mind as the plants get older and flower they really start to smell. You will have to have a plan to deal with that if any issues come up. Other than that, I say simple is better. Do what works for you.

Thanks, yeah...my gut was telling me to just keep doing what i've been doing.

As far as light, I've noticed that they get almost 12 hrs now, but it's getting shorter and shorter everyday. I would love to leave them in the window so glad to hear that natural is better, obviously... but wasn't sure if I needed stronger light. Hopefully, I'll see some progress soon in terms of flowering.

The smell's not an issue, although *coughs* nosy pothead neighbors are haha. And was planning on trying tomato food when I move them to bigger pots.

Thanks again for the advice...it's given me confidence to keep doing what I'm doin...so proud of them. =D

your plant looks good... dont cut leafs ..

a little stretchy im guessing you are using window light? if not move the light closer

do you know how to flower and all that

yeah..everyone who came in my house was telling me to cut the big leaves, went with my gut and glad I didn't.

And yes, they are totally in southern window light. I would love to be able to leave them that way (not a problem with cops, whatever). However, if the light (or lack of strong, direct light) is going to drastically affect flowering, then I would consider setting up some sort of artificial lighting.

And no.....no clue how to flower...figured the drop in hours of light would induce that.. and honestly was gonna just take it from there.. anything I extremely important I should know?

read up on it if you really care to give her the best enviroment possible
this forum is quick dependable help (most of the time anyway) but nothing is better than learning things on your own along with trial and error

You might want to think about setting up a small artificial lighting scenario. I've never used them, but many here have had success with low-wattage, cool-burning compact fluoroscents.

Flowering is triggered by giving them 12hours of light, 12hours of dark. You want to let them grow a bit before starting the flowering light schedule, tho.

Thanks again for all the advice guys.....yeah, I just felt overwhelmed with all the info on the net, and figured maybe if I uploaded pictures I could get more objective advice =].

And will probably supplement with lighting at night to extend the daylight? Would love them to be much larger before flowering I'm assuming.
