I need a solution for cooling and dehudification of my room. High humidity in my area so the portable swamper coolers won't work. Edgestar Portable Air Cooler w/ Ionic Air Purifier - claims to drop air temp by 12 degrees and dehumidify. Has the ionic purifier which after reading some of ALBfuct's posts I may need to disable if I were to use it. Thoughts ? Other Ideas for independent cooling, prob can't do a window unit due to power draw. Venting will be adequate but area has no cooling present and relatively high humidity.

Started looking at more sites that carry same product, it was misprinted that it dehumidified it in fact is a swamper cooler (adds humidity, damn would have to run a dehumidifier too) only uses 45w, drops output air temp 12 degrees, no air volume specified. Small room 2x12x8ft high, sealed 400w fixture with its own exhaust and some uncooled cfl's. Room will have in and out exhaust, amount tbd (problem is that it is to the outside, hence the need for cooling when summer temps and humidity go up, lights will run over night to take advantage of cooler temps). Temps are ideal at the moment. Has anyone used small portable swamper coolers before? How did they work out?
PS- I don't grow anything just like a 80 degree room with low humidity to sit in.

my room is upstairs... which already is warm as heat rises and the a/c in my house was not done right when the house was built.

I had no choice but to go with a portable a/c.... not the swamp cooler type.... the kind that is just a stand alone unit. I do vent the exhaust out a window.

The mistake I made when buying my a/c is that I got one with a 12 hour timer..... I should have got one with a 24 hour timer.
