PPM for Hanna Chart PPM

Seedlings, Early Sprouts 100 to 250

Early Vegging 300 to 400

Full Vegetation 450 to 700

Early Blooming 750 to 950

Full Mature Blooms 1000 to 1600

Note: EC Calculations are different, here's a conversion chart :
heres a great chart that shows how different PPM can be from meter to meter... EC is the only real universal language...

ROSE, is that based on using canna line nutes, or is that a general speculation of using nutes during those certain phases?

It is for any general nute use, and remember to consider the water's ppm too. I use the HANNA numbers.

Help

I am starting my first grow very soon. I just bought a TDS tester, and I have no clue really what to do with it. I know what it is used for, but what should my numbers read? I plan on buying 4 clones and growing them in my closet. I believe I have all the nutes, I am just really unsure as to how to put everything together.

It really depends on the strain. Indicas allways take more then Sativas do. My tap water is 300ppm before you add any nutes so 300-400 in early veg is way low for me. I start at 400ppm and go 600- 800 through veg. I also have strains that fry if you go over 1000ppms for late flower. A ppm of 1200 in late flower would fry my Bubba Kush and my SuperSilverHaze. I cant go over 900ppm with ChemDog or SourD. Maybe Hanna is different but your plants will let you know if you over feed them. Good luck with your grow show!

it also depends on your root mass and plant size, my 40"+ WW (sativa dominate) is currently on 1500PPM, today marks the 8th day of flowering

Ok so how do I know when I am at the right PPM? Everyone tells me that the plants will tell me, but i am not sure what that means. What I do understand is that during different phases of growing I will want the PPM to vary. I want to start growing by Tuesday (1/20/2009), but I don't feel like I am prepared. If anyone can explain the PPM, testing the TDS, what the readings are telling me, and a schedule of PPM numbers trhoughout the various stages of growing, I will forever be in their debt. This will be my first time growing and the first time I have used a hydroponic system, so please forgive any stupid questions.

Thank you

Matt

to tell you the truth, you need to go to the canna website, they have a feeding schedule...use that

now, that same feeding chart will tell you the ppm or EC the water should be, start from this point for whichever specific week you are on, just follow directions. During the week as the water gets consumed and the ppm decreases, replace with water and add more nutes according to the weeks specific dosage, the ppm should go back up between the state range on the schedule, if its still too low and your res is full, just add nutes, but add them slowly and then ph your water......BAM! done

do this every week

Which Canna grow schedule should I use?

So when adjusting the water it is kind of a guessing game when determining how much nuets or water to add??? Also I plan on growing 4 pants in my closet, is 10 gallons of water enough?

OK so I add my nuets and adjust my Ph for the week. Everyday I check the Ph and the PPM. How do I know if I am at the right PPM for my plants, do I just follow the numbers on the schedule or "do my plants tell me" some how? After I know what my PPM is suppose to be, I either add more nuets or water to adjust the water to reach the correct number. Finally, I checked the PPM of my tap water and it is at 270. Is this a problem?

Thank You

I am dead serious thank you. How am I suppose to learn, when I ask a question and someone gives me crap like this. I just needed an answer. I am sure you were new to this at one point too.

Like I said prior, I am about to start my first grow EVER. I am using a drip system with 6" rockwool grow cubes. I have a 15 gal rez, but I am only using 10 gals. I am trying to learn about TDS testing. I understand that I need to test the water everyday for the Ph but what about the PPM. What I need to know is how do I know what PPM I should be at during the various stages of my grow? People say that "the plants will tell me." What exactly does this mean? I do understand that there is a schedule that tells you around what PPM I should be at, but can anyone recommend one? Someone recommended that I check out the Canna website. I did this but did not understand what I was looking at. On the website it showed 4 different schedules. Which one would you recommend?

Ok. So I check the Ph and the PPM everyday. I know how to adjust the Ph. If my PPM is lower I need to add nuets? and if I add too much nuets and my PPM is too high, I can add water to lower the PPM?

Thank you

Matt

Matt, here's how I do it.

I start off seedlings or clones in a very weak solution, between 200-400PPM depending on the strain and how they react. You want to compensate for the PPM coming from your faucet, so if you're at 270 coming out of your faucet then 470-670. At this point they wont be using much nutes at all so I dont even worry about checking the nutes unless I see a problem. If your plants are not showing any visible growth over a few days but otherwise look good then most likely you are not using enough nutes, if they look sick, spots, etc then you most likely are over doing it. If they look good and are growing then bingo.

When they are growing well I start to increase the nutes slowly, usually about 100PPM every 3-4 days. I keep doing this as long as the plants are responding well until I get to 900-1000 (+PPM of tap water) keeping an eye on how the plants react. I normally push it until I see slight nute burn and then I back off.

This may not be the best/right way but it works for me and I just pulled 4oz of bud off each of my plants on my last grow.

Roseman I got that and printed it out. Thank you.

I appreciate everyone's help. I am excited and nervous to start my first grow. Wish me luck. I am going to try and post a GROW JOURNAL so everyone can see how things are going. Roseman, I expect you to look and comment, plus to help out as I go.

Thank You
