Ebb And Flow Plubming Parts - Advice Please

Hello everyone, I'm trying to finish a Ebb and Flow setup and need some advice with specific plumbing parts needed.

I (think) have purchased everything needed except the hose fittings to fill the table and the fittings for the overflow/drain.

(have large totes, 1/2 in tubing, 3/4 inch tubing, air pump with air stones, 130gph submersible water pump, netpots, hydroton, drill, hole saw bits, timer)

I spent hours last night watching youtube videos and was reading earlier today more diy setups. The problem is not one guide that saw went into goes into specifics about the fittings that connect the tubing to the flood table. Terms like "buy the botanicare Ebb and Flow kit" or "fittings from your local hardware store" is all I've come across.

I get it, it's not rocket science but I've never worked with any plumbing other than fixing toilets. I'd like to get the fittings at homedepot.

I planned on running a 1/2 inch tube from the water pump to the table and a 3/4 tube to drain it via gravity back to the reservoir.

If someone can help me with specific parts needed I'd be super grateful.

I'm thinking I need these 1/2 and 3/4

but what about the nut or some kind of gromet?

I've been reading about a pipe filter and/or riser...

Also what is a good water proof epoxy/sealant for this?

Thanks in advance

You are better off finding the correct fitting for your application. Try a boat supply for the pump fitting its called a through hull. As for the actual drain. They are called an ebb and flow drain and really are what you should get. In saying that you could use another thru hull fitting higher up on the side of the tote in a 3/4". The ebb and flow fitting has a 3/4 female pipe thread that you can put assorted depth drain pipes in using a 3/4 male to glue adapter. I have built lots of these so I've tried all types of stuff lol.

Oh and all the thru hull fittings come with a rubber gasket so no sealing stuff needed, but marine goop works ok.

Ok thanks, I guess I will just ebay one of the kits. I wanted to finish today but probably better to wait and do it right.

Yes I think you are but again if there's a hardware or boat store they'll have thru hull fittings. The ebb and flow fitting is a tough one to find around town though lol.

We have one boat store and the prices are absolutely insane. I will just order the stuff on ebay, found a kit for 10.00

the top 3 are the parts that physically go through the tray and seal. the bottom 5 are different screens and risers. Usually super easy to find
Where I live going to the one and only hydro shop is just plain dangerous. Every 2 to 3 months there are stories in the local paper/local news website about grows being busted. Some small (2-3 plants) some larger. I'd imagine for every story in the paper there are probably many, many knock and talks or other LE problems.

It's notorious for being watched, I won't even call them. I've driven by and honestly by the looks of the building, where it's at, the odd hours, super sparse inventory on the ultra unprofessional website (looks like they aren't even trying to sell items) , the "call for delivery service" I wouldn't even be surprised if it was just a front.

I could be paranoid but just one story of someone being visited because they went to that shop is enough for me.

Thanks for the pic. Looks just like the one I ordered.

There ya go, good luck! I have built a few as I said, I love to tinker lol. If you have any questions as you progress feel free to ask. I will help if I can!
Thanks for your help. The term you used "thru hull" really helped me out. I went back to home depot and got a few parts and the marine goop. I set up a make shift unit in my garage and it all worked.

I did order the ebay kit also. I'll probably use that instead of my rig job because I'm going to be running it in a closet. Res outside with tubing going in to table located in closet.
I've had 2 major floods already due to other circumstances and it sucks big time, I don't want to chance it especially my first time and not knowing how the roots, potential debris etc will affect things.

Thanks again and have a good one.

Glad its coming together for you! We have one hydro shop as well. We had two but the one turned out to be the biggest meth lab in eastern Canada, went to buy some nutes and the was guys in hazmat suits busting the place lol. When I was doing some big numbers I had other people do the buying and paid them in pot, worked great, lol. You can never be too careful!!!

That's really unfortunate man. i'd try looking in the fountain and pond plumbing and the automatic sprinkler plumbing at home depot in the future or just ordering a couple extra kits in case you want to expand.

See my DIY Mini- Me F & D thread. Lots of hardware pics
Thanks. I have my first setup figured out but would love to see your post as I like to experiment with different ideas and probably will build more units. I looked everywhere and through your profile but can't find it. Can you post a link here, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thanks again
