There are always better ways to do things, so if you can top this please share. From my old days with aquarium gravel washing, I remembered to shove the hose down in there and turn it on high. I augmented this by using a screwdriver to punch about 8 holes around the bottom of the bag. Run the water and watch the dirt wash away. Adjust the bag periodically to free up dirt that had found a little pocket to hide in. It isn't perfect as is evidenced by a minor amount of silt in the bottom of my buckets, but it worked great. I hope it saves you and everyone time and frustration.
