So I am new to the P/C fan deal. How do I get started in setting it up? I need to connect it to a 12v battery, this i know. I need the cords from the fan but I don't know which ones and how to get the plastic thing off in picture 2. I figure is it black (neg) and red (pos) like a car battery and the other cords I can forget about but IDK for sure. There is also a little plastic piece at the tip I can't seem to get off. Any suggestions? I thought about just cutting it and stripping the wire down...

You need to cut and strip the pc fan wires.. And toss out the 12V battery it will work but not for more than a few hours..take an old phone charger and slice those wires too and connect the pc fan wires to the phone chargers.. Not many options.trial and error will determine wich wires go together ..but yeah phone chargers work great for pc fans..let me know how it works

No luck! I did what you said and stripped the wires down and connected them to a phone charger's wires. I tested a bunch of times to see if positive was to positive and negative was to negative. I touched them together and when it moved i figured i found the right combo. I twisted them together and plugged it in again. It hardly turns over! I turns over once, then chills...once, then chills...over and over. It looks like it is not getting alot of power. This is the second charger I've tried and I stripped a BUNCH off each wire as you can see so I don't think its a lack of wire showing. Think it could be too much wire showing? I also tried other outlets.

Are you sure a big ass 12v battery wouldn't be good. Does everybody else do their p/c fans like this?

any help guys?

I really can't figure this out. When i twist the red to the red and black to the black from the phone charger/p/c fan it just tries to turn over like it isn't getting enough power. But when I have the black to black and i rub red against red with some quickness the fan gets going real fast just the way I want it. As long as I keep rubbing the red against red its hauling ass but once I stop it goes back to not getting enough power. Any ideas?

i know what you did... you ripped off too much copper when you were stripping the wires..be gentle when your cutting them.. re-split the wires and make sure all wire is still attached..,use some eletrical tape to hold them together and i bet itll work wonders..goodluck sir
