yes you can use plastic cups theres nothing wrong with that you may have to transplant

with 4 inch cups you will be transplanting in 2 or 3 weeks, those 16oz red party cups you see a lot of people use are good for 3 to 4 weeks

I use 6 inch coir pots (6 for $5 at my local nursery) they are good for 5 to 6 weeks (my total veg time) then you just plant them into a bigger pot. The coir pots break down once planted and allow roots to grow thru

much thx to both for the quick response, i plan on either going 24/7 from seed or maybe just 1 or 2 week veg in total, can i finish in 160z party cups?

people HAVE grown start to finish in 16oz cups, but i wouldnt recommend it. the roots need more room than that to grow and a plants flowers and leafs health has alot to do with the health of the roots. if you keep them in the small cups for too long the could become candidates for root lock or root rot

I wondered about those coir pots. They dont get moldy? Seems like they would break down after a few waterings..

they can get moldy (saw it once, when I had turned my fan off due to temps) depends on humidity and having fan going

other than than one time I have had no problem with em
