dyna-gro anyone?

has anyone used these nutes with success? i notice it gets some praise from Uncle Ben, but am wondering if anyone has used the Foliage Pro and their Bloom.

I saw your thread title, and I immediately thought: "Isn't Uncle Ben a big Dyna-Gro guy?" And then you mentioned it in your text, so I'm looking forward to hearing from U.B.

There's a couple of hydro shops in Berkeley that are open tomorrow (Sunday), so I could be tempted to go buy some Dyna-Gro just for the sake of interest...

yeah, i'm curious as to how it is through some sort of hydroponic/aquaculture setup, but there isn't much light on that subject it seems.

Yeah I've been trying to find the same info for a little while. I'm planning to switch to these nutes when I run out of my H&G stuff. Based on everything I've read they should be the best choice. I was planning on getting the foliage pro and bloom too. I also wanted to get the pro-tekt and k-l-n concentrate. I really wish I could find someone with some first hand experience with these. Uncle Ben recommends them but I've never seen him say he uses them or has known anyone who used them.

I'll be a guinea pig if I have to since they look better and are cheaper then what I'm currently using.

yeah, it sucks when someone recommends them, but show no reference to why it is recommended. i certainly hope it is not recommended because it has all of the "16 essential elements" for growing a plant.

i called dyna-gro and asked them what would the total PPM be if i were to use their suggested amount (1/4 teaspoon per gallon for foliage pro and 1 teaspoon per gallon for bloom) and said that they both will come out to be 400 ppm. i am going to call again tomorrow to see if that is the same answer.

what is interesting is that dyna-gro shows the recommened usage for their "bloom nute" along with a recirculating or non-recirculating hydroponic setup, but do not mention any of the sort with foliage pro - not necessarily a horrible thing, but it would be nice to post up the same info.

you may not be the only guinea pig, i may jump on that rodent play wheel as well, but i will be using GH nutes along side as well to see how they both play out.

I thought that was the whole point of CNS17, using what they call the 17 essential micro and macro nutrients. The stuff is cheap enough (but so is Dyna-Gro), and CNS17 is readily available and I know from experience that it works just fine. Still, they make Dyna-Gro about 20 miles from where I live, so maybe I'll support a local company...

I used them on my first grow (on my third now). It really screwed up the ph. I had to add almost as much ph up as I did nutrient solution. Also the solution crystallized in the container over time, sounded like there was gravel in the jug.

Made my plants smell funny too, but I did get a pretty good yield considering it was my first time.

I've used Dyna-Gro for years........I love the simplicity......8 ml/gal, change every two weeks......no Ph adjustments with my tap water........did have issues when using R.O. water......but easily cured with hydrated lime, a little epsom salts on occasion for extra Mg and sulphur....and on some strains I add triple super phospate(just a heaping Tbs per 30 gal rez). My grow shop upped the price recently from $35 to $55/gal......so I may go back to Ionic or even GH flora series....... My Ph flucuates from 5.8-6.5.............and I just let it rather than battle to hold a set point. I also should point out I do ebb/flow, 4" RW cubes throughout......

I did get a gallon of grow once that I swear was swapped out.......instead of the light green color it was like dirty brown water with white specs floating......I thought it was odd, but used it anyway.........big problems, but I did a water change and used some bloom I had on hand.....everything returned to normal within a week and I threw the gallon of grow away..........I should have tried to return it.......but sometimes it's better to just eat the loss and not piss people off with accusations..........to prevent it from occuring again....i simply pop the cap and make sure the seal isn't broken before I buy.....

Any other questions I can answer??

So you would recommend using the foliage pro over the grow?
