DWC vs Organic

So I have grown plants with Wick system that turned more into a deep water culture when my roots grew into the tank, I've grown mostly organic soil and this time I want to do a side by side comparison of DWC and organic soil.

In the DWC I have a TGA Querkle and a DrGreenthumb Incognito and in soil I have another Querkle, 2 JillyBeans and a tester from Jinxproof that is Hells OG x 9# Hammer.

Seedlings got very stunted initially by heat so they are all very behind where they should be but moving on.

DWC plants are being mainlined (manifolded) and all soil plants have been topped. I may manifold them if their veg growth can take off more but I can't let the DWC get too ahead so we'll see. So far, the DWC plants are growing crazy fast as expected. I'm also using SpeedyVeg for the soil plants as an amendment. Soil is a mix of Kind soil, FFOF, earthworm castings, perlite and myco.

Light is 200W Timberlights at 3500K.

Temps 72-84 with CO2.

Tent is 3 x 3 x 6

So I'm going to try to practice patience this time around. It always seems that I come up against some sort of deadline (trips usually) that cause me to flip to flower too soon so I can harvest and dry before a trip. This time I am going to do my best to get some size on these before the flip. Usually they are only about 8" high when I flip and my harvest weights suffer as a result. Mentally I'm like these need to be done by such and such date but fuck it, I'm gonna push thru and go long and see what I can get with a longer veg time. If nothing more, I'll at least get better training and growth. Patience grasshopper is my new mantra.

THanks for saying that,, because I am right there with you,, my Jack is starting to look like yours soon,, but i want a longer veg time,, so i will wait,, like you,, i really want to see big fat colas

Dr. Greenthumb's Incognito (This strain is still the reigning champ for trichome coverage and pure strength of everything I've grown. Vigorous growth too from seed. I need more Dr. Greenthumb strains! HIGHLY recommended!!)

Too bad I broke a main branch off my Incognito when doing it's first cut but the Querkle is gonna make up for it. The DWC is really a fast way to grow, esp. watching side by side. I swear the roots alone have doubled in size in the last 2 days. Probably didn't hurt that each DWC plant has a large disc airstone under each one. I'm really afraid that my soil plants are gonna get buried by the DWC plants crazy growth. I know I could easily fill the tent with just the two DWC plants!

What are you using for nutrients? In dwc

GH trio (1/4 to 1/2 strength) and some SpeedyVeg. Hydroguard to protect the roots. PH 6.0

maybe you should make the choices now,, knowing whats ahead,, just grow the dwc plants,, ?
I know its not the same, but the reason i am mainlining is because of the crazy hyrdro like growth that comes from the SIP's,, since they to have water roots,, some of the guys even put the airstones in those as well

Mostly for curiosity's sake. I already know that the DWC is going to out grow the soil but I want to see what the difference is between two plants, grown at the same time in these different mediums...in this case, Querkle. I want to see how taste is affected along with trichome coverage/production and difference in smell is between the two.

I definitely think anything that allows roots to hang in water need an airstone to keep it sufficiently oxygenated.

Probably would have been better to have another plant in DWC that I also have in soil for comparison but the Dr. Greenthumb Incognito, (called "Dos no mas" by my wife and I cuz she can only have 2 hits or she's too high), is so good that even my wife said I have to always have that one. That's saying something...to me at least lol.

for sure for sure, always nice to have a strain that always hits the sweet spots,,
for sure keep as many plants alive as you can,, maybe you can raise the soils pots up to keep the canopy even as they get taller,, so the soil plants still get some great light?,,,, just an idea

Stole my thoughts. I have something to get them higher.

I wish I had more room to grow. I don't have the luxury of space unfortunately so everything is from seed. Planning on moving to Oregon this spring. Will have much more room then.

I am very lucky to live in Oregon, my box provides all I can smoke and more , plus you may have seen on my grow thread we can legally buy clones at State legal store s

Some updated pics. Raised pots for even canopy. More training of potted plants, bending of branches in DWC plants along with light defoliation.

Querkle in front, Incognito in back. Replaced reservoir water and upped nutes to 3/4 strength.
