Dwc or soil for "buds for less"

Hey everyone, I am wondering if I use the dwc method for growing identically to the method used in buds for less, would the yield be higher or easier to get the same yield more consistently? I would just use soil but from hearing so many horror stories about spider mites I bowed out before I even made the growing choice.

Thanks and any info on this would be greatly appreciated. Once I'm started up I plan on making very documented journals even if they are failures.

I've never had a problem with spider mites. Even with miracle gro. Its probably just a regional thing.

Hydro produces faster plant growth, but allows for many more things to go wrong

Im sorry if i wasnt very clear, when i mentioned "buds for less" i was refering to the book by seemorebuds. It shows a day by day progression in detail with pictures and all, while growing 1 plant under cfl lighting at very close proximity to the plant to get around 8 oz of bud.

I have read that hydro grows like the dwc method produce larger yields, i was just wondering if i used that method would i see the same amount of weight or close to it.

unless you have quite a substantial amount of cfl lighting i dont think youre going to yield 8 oz off one plant. i grew a lemon diesel that yielded that much once but that was under a 1000hps. i use cfls for clones and seeds only. thats just me. as far as larger yields with a dwc bucket theres no doubt that you will get more. maybe if you scogged one under one of those 4x4 t5 ho? i could see a 1/2 coming out under one of those, maybe more...

Was just wondering cause it seemed far off. I'm trying to get a small single plant or 2 setup for my nephew for his own personal use. Since he doesn't want a big sign showing his mom that he is growing I was looking into small setups with big yields for him.

So he is stuck with cfl or led for now.

Edit: Just read through the book again, its been a while, and i realized it was 3 plants total. One from seed which got 3 zips and 2 clones of a different strain which got 5 z's. So total was 8 between the 3. All done with 6 42 watt cfls.
